on tv. I think they should make pupper seat belts a law also.

either a seat belt or crate should be the law...but that is never going to happen. Heck, many humans don't buckle up and they don't get ticketed.

In a p/u truck, I'd hope that he'd crate them in the cab with him. I HATE the idea of a dog uncrated in the front seat- anyone who's seen the force of an airbag deployed should realize it's not something you'd want your dog to experience without the protection of a crate! And I can't believe the number of people that throw their dogs into the bed of a truck, uncrated, untethered, and drive around town.
But- considering the fact that people allow their toddlers to ride w/o a child seat, standing up in the passenger seat- it should come as no surprise that dogs loose in cars don't get more attention!
BTW- FL WILL ticket you for riding w/o a seat-belt... they can pull you over for no other reason, now- and every now and then- I've been through a safety belt check-point! I'm thankful that- although he ALSO passed me his love of speed and lack of patience on the road- my dad taught us to wear our seat-belts, EVERY time we got into a car. It stuck- and now I get to remind HIM to put his on! :)

My boys always ride in the kennels. The kennels on the folded down rear seat are secured to the headrest with ropes.

and here's why...
Years ago, I was hit broadside by a car. I had my old mutt, Caesar, on my lap, (passenger seat) and not belted. I got hurt by being slammed sideways. He got slammed against the dash (and was lucky to be fine). I said never again because He could've been knocked through a window.
This past December I totalled my Mustang on a road I didn't know was slippery. Be assured that hitting someone on a slippery road, going downhill, at 40 MPH, is not fun. The car was smashed up to the windshield. I shudder to think what would've happened if I had had my furkids in the car, especially not in their crate in the back seat! I'm still recovering. I was told that without my seatbelt, I would've flown OVER the airbag, through the windshield, and DOWN THE ROAD! Can you imagine what that would've done to this guy's Yorkies, or my Dachshunds?
:crying:
Ours are always in their crate in the backseat, and I bought a crate with a seatbelt strap. They've never known any other way to travel, and never will. I'd never forgive myself if something happened that could've been avoided.

He'll never get it until one of his beloved pooches dies.
Chrissie - The fine here for driving without a Seat Belt is over $100.

My kids are confined to the back seat or in crates in the front seat. Lucy used to ride belted in the front seat, but an air bag would definitely hurt her.
