Hello everyone. I'm an active reader of the board, but this is my first post.

I have three beautiful children: Lucy (aged 3), Charlie (aged 2), and most recently, Linus (aged 4 months).

Well, here's my scenario. I was lying down in my couch to take a nap with my babes (they all love to trample all over me when they sleep because THEY have to be comfotable on my back!! :) Linus, the pup, decided to "mark his spot" on my back. Believe me, it wasn't a good wake up call. I was startled, needless to say. I couldn't stop from laughing, so I didn't say my usual "NO!" when they've done something bad.

Well, the next day, I was on the floor playing with them and Charlie gets on my back (as usual), and marks me as well!!! This mark was a lot WETTER and BIGGER given that he was a larger dog.

My girlfriend says that the two boys are competing to claim me as their own. I won't lie down with them any more just in case, but does anyone have any idea what this meant? Charlie never did that before-- only after Linus did.

Charlie and Lucy are both fixed, and Linus is scheduled in one month. Does this have anything to do with it?

(btw-- yes, I did shower very well :) I forgot to mention that I am seen as the alpha leader of the pack.

Thanks, Liquidz

Hi Liquidz,

There are probably a lot of possible reasons, including the marking of territory you mention. Although lower packlings don't typically *mark* the alpha (to my knowledge).

Your description does give a hillarious visual though. :D

Thanks, Mark. It was just so weird to me because although all three were typical dachsie's in that they were terrible to housebreak, one thing they never did was mark territory-- only the usual accidents when they were pups.

It hasn't happened again, luckily, but that was an experience I think I'll never forget. :D
