Our 5 month old smooth red boy is a real sweetheart...except he gets sooooo excited when a person comes in to the room and says, "HI Woody!" even if that person hasn't left the house - If a family member or just a visitor enters the house he greets them, rolls over wagging his tail and pees. Is this a submissive behavior , a young male behavior or other? Any ideas...To those who are in and out of our house a lot I tell them not to make over him to just ignore him, but others can't resist and don't know better and he just squirts...One friend is trying to ignore him but he knows she adores him and as soon as he sees her squirts all the way down the block...Also he is not neutered.
Also he has just started marking everything in sight on our walks...and has started marking a few personal items of my 12 year old daughters, for instance tonight he pulled a brand new piece of clothing off her bed and peed on it... otherwise he has been easy to train or we have been trained, taking him out at strategic times and watching him like a hawk...he is rarely at home alone and when he is, he stays in a crate , he has probably been in his crate with the door locked for a grand total of 12 hours cumulative since he has been with us the last 3 months. This is our first doxie, we had a golden retriever for 16 years before Woody...
