More ? on that bell thing

I was also wondering about the bell-ringing potty training idea. I'm trying to picture this -- can you describe it? Do you buy it from a pet store or is it home made. How do you hang it? Is it attached to your wall/door somehow? Also, our puppy will be about 10 wks. old when we get her. Do you think that's too young to try to start teaching her the bell-ringing technique right away? Thanks!

Never too young or old to start.

Our bells are 1" Christmas bells. We have them tied to the handle of our sliding glass door just low enough that all he has to do is stand up and bump them with his paws or nose. To teach Augie I rang the bells everytime we went outside. Ring them loud and for about 5 seconds saying pee time, poop time or in my case poopeedoo, it covers both.<IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm25.gif" border=0>

It took two weeks of doing this EVERY TIME he goes out. One night it clicked and he has rung the bells every time he wants out.

I have a new rescue now. We are doing the same thing. One week past, he knows the bells but has not rung them himself... yet. It takes time, but it is well worth it!
