Ok how ever you spell that he is a chicken. Tuff guy at home but at his first class he squelled like a little piggy. If one on those big puppies came near him. It is so funny, but I didn't let him keep it up. By the time class started he was doing really good with a lot of other breeds. As my brother says " The REAL DOGS" in other words labs, goldens, anything that does what it is told but has no intiaative on its own. Like the clever little doxies that know it is more fun to go and rearrange the back yards dirt. Or maybe even grab the bark on the tree and see if they can peel it off.
But anyway Zor was very good once the intial shock of other dogs not looking and acting like a doxie sunk in. He now knows that watch means look away. Of course that if you are held up you can wiggle all you want and that of course you can pee on those black matts. They wipe up very nicely even if you walk all through it first.
So the first OB class was a big success. I only have a couple more gray hairs. And Zor is very pleased with himself to say the least. :luvlove:

It's so funny how much their personalities differ, isn't it? Lynx was the only one I took through puppy class- and he was just a total wimp. He HATED being stuck in the playpen with all the other puppies- he'd sit there with his paws on the wire, staring out at us and crying "get me outta here!!!" It wasn't until the third class- when "Wolfgang" the 5 month old wire doxie came to class, that he started to get braver. By the end of the class, he LOVED playing with all the other puppies- even gigantic "Copper" the golden boy! He's still our most chicken-y dog, but that early socialization saved us from having a TOTAL wuss! :D
Dutch is a natural social butterfly. He's just pleased to meet anyone. He's always the first to make friends at the dog park, and always the one who doesn't want to leave. If Lynx is our chicken-dog, Dutch is the love-puppy. :)
Geisha is our toughie. She's not afraid of anyone- and vocalizes it! She's hilarious when she's in a mood at the dog park- a stubby, growling, barking, ball of tail wagging fur. She's ABSOLUTELY not aggressive- it's more like she's talking to everyone! Grrrr-oooo.... A-rooo! Grrrr...ooooo..... a - HOO!! Geisha is, no doubt: our corn-dog. :flower:

But Mom I'm so little and they're all so BIG! Poor Zor! He probably didn't know there were such big dogs in the world.

Ruben peed when he saw all those doggies at school. After all, he was the teeniest. Someone said her dog "poops that big" poor boy. (There were Newfoundlands in his class.) He's the one who loves people, but doggies scare him.:afraid:
Trencye walked right up to the other dogs, but initially backed away when people tried to pet her. :( She just isn't very friendly initially.
It's fun to watch them prance at school. Ruben, like RacZor, became so proud of himself. He did everything he was supposed to, and passed quite happily. :D
Trenyce isn't a pleaser, so for her just learning to approach friendly people was enough. I was glad she made that transition at school. As for minding, well, not so good at that, she IS a dachshund, you see.
Dachshunds are so smart at school. Watch closely. Ruben would sit when the instructor said "sit your dogs." Trenyce wouldn't heel unless every other dog was doing it. Walk when they are all sitting, looking at me, NO WAY!
Have a great time!:)

at obedience class. Since she had big ole Casey at home she didn't worry about the bigger dogs and I guess Casey helped socialize her because she had no fear of the other dogs at all. Now listening was not and is not her stong suit. If you can get her attention she'll do it otherwise sol. She did get sit, and down but down is only when she feels like it, and it must be discussed in depth. Did find out she is not a food motivated dog. She would rather play than get treats.
She was the puppy in the class causing the most disturbance (imagine) talking back and wanting to start some fun anywhere possible. The teacher started calling her the princess after the first class. The one thing she would do without fail was come. When the teacher would hold her leash and have us walk across the room and call them she would come flying like her tail was on fire and I had a bucket of water every time.

Lucy told all the big dogs where to go! Tess on the other had was afraid of people and dogs. She is doing so much better now that she is a different dog. Willy --- well it will be interesting.
