that little minkey chester!! i am alittle upset, but i was wondering why he might be peeing in my bed. i don't think he's mad at me this time. he's done it before and i knew he was upset, but its annoying to wake up in the middle of the night and have to change my sheets. any ideas?

How old is chester?
Trying taking him potty right before bed time. If he still can't make it through the night, then try to crate him at night time for a while. At least until he learns to hold it all night.

chester is almost 2. i do try to let him out before we go to bed. i even get up in the middle of the night if he needs to go. (he's a tad spoiled) i appreciate your advice. about the crating. that brings up another question. if i crate him and not mortimer, my other doxie, he might get upset at being left alone in the crate while morty is in bed...don't ya think?

I have two boys, and would hesitate to crate one and not the other. The only time I might consider is if Hans got to sleep in the big bed, and Bean the crate, as Hans is the alpha. However, I know this would put Beanie in a funk, and would likely make the situation worse.
Just my opinion. Bean is VERY dependant on big brother Hans, so for me, that just would not work. Maybe for two very independant dogs, it would work just fine.

Lili had that same habit, so finally after I had tried everything known to man or dachsie, I told her it was no fun to sleep where she peed and promptly put her little bunns on the wet spot and held her there for about 10 minutes. So far she hasn't done it again. Of course she will probably go tonight since I said that!!
Good luck, because I know how annoying it is.

My dogs - one at least - used to pee in the bed. I'm pretty sure it was a dominance thing. Oscar goes through stages of peeing where he shouldn't. I think it is his way of challenging us. When he is in a peeing stage he has to work for everything. He has to sit to get up on the bed, lie down for a treat, roll over to get breakfast, etc. I 'alpha roll' him when I catch him in the act. If I kept this routine up all the time I'm sure there would have been less incidents.
They haven't peed in the bed for months (knock wood) and I think it is because Oscar has passed his challenging teenage stage. He is now just over 2.5 years.
Good luck.
