Well Buddy is now 13wks old and we hadn't been making any progress in the potty department. Until now. I have blocked both the kids doorways so Bud can't get in there (he liked both rooms to poo in) and I spray the floor with natures miracle training aid where ever he went potty. But he still wasn't getting it. So the other day when he peed I yelled at him and put him in his pen. Well since then I have been taking him out regular and put him on a eating schedule. So far so good. It's been 3 days without an accident in the house.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/party.gif

Hi Buddy's Mom:
Ain't that a grand feeling when your pupper makes the "potty connection"?
Growing up with dogs, having dogs all my adult life, at one time, I subscibed to the "rub their nose it in it" theory.
Recently, there seems to be a new way that makes a lot of sense to me. The theory is that making a big production of the _mistake_ can be very confusing. Almost to the point of inhibiting the dog from going, even when outside.
Ignoring the inside puddles and poos is about the toughest thing I ever had to learn. I have scars on my tongue from biting it! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
Now, crate training that incorporates frequent trips outdoors at appropriate times, works for me.
I fostered 5 large breed pups (not all at the same time) and that method was a success, even with the one that was a bubble off of level.
Keep up the good work,
Roxane
