That's actually real pain in my heart. I still continue to be dumbfounded by people who could do something so disgusting and demented. I have no other words for this. Well, ones that I could in good faith post....

It made my heart skip a beat, and it gives me cold chills to think that such EVIL is out there. I only hope he went into shock quickly and didn't feel the horrible pain. The poor baby, I want to hold him and kiss him bye.

I hope who ever did it is caught. As the article stated, someone who could do this has no consciene. First a dog, next a human.

That is horrible. Yes, whoever did it needs to be confined for a very long time.

Rena. This person and I use that word loosely needs to be skinned alive. Turn about is fair play I say.

Hmmmm... I'm wondering if they aren't jumping the gun a little bit, though. D's parents are in that area of Mobile- and BOY, did I have culture shock when I tried to take my boys for a walk around their neighborhood... there were dogs running loose everywhere! It was awful! We passed 3 other dachshunds- all hanging out on the street, with tags on- but no owners to be found. We saw a beagle, two goldens, several mixed breeds- but NO OWNERS! This was a nice, newer subdivision- what the heck?! And people had "junk piles". Old appliances, metal scraps- just sitting on the front yard, where kids and pets could get into it. It's obvious that the dear little poodle wasn't in it's safe backyard when all this took place...
Perhaps I'm giving humanity more credit than it deserves in this case- but why in the world would someone just cut a dog? Someone in the position (and sick enough) to cut a live animal in that manner would be unlikely to just let it go afterwards. People who enjoy torturing animals don't know when to stop...
And there was already OTHER evidence of an animal attack. It sounds to me that the poor pup was attacked, and in his effort to get away- tried to hide under something sharp. A small dog has very thin skin- it's not unheard of.
One of the outdoor cats we had when I was a kid came home after a week of being missing with a clean cut straight across his back, exposing his shoulders. The first thing that came to everyone's mind (including the vet) was human cruelty. He recovered- and several months later, my poor freaked out dad told us that "Ray" had just died. He had been sleeping in my dad's old truck's engine compartment- and when the fan came on, it hit him in the head, chopped off part of his ear, and knocked him out cold. Turns out Ray was NOT dead (they aren't kidding with that 9 lives stuff), and recovered fully. But after that- my dad would thunk the hood with his fist before he turned on the engine- and Ray would zip out. We put two and two together- the fan blade had sliced him open- not a person.
Screwed up people exist- I'm not denying that. This just sounds a little fishy. Either way- it's so sad that the pup had to die like that. Why in the world do people let their dogs just roam around?

What a good point Chrissie! I guess with society the way it is, we just start assuming the worst in mankind. And as for the "thunking" on the cars, when we lived in Maine, my dad accidentally defurred a kitten that had crawled under his truck's hood trying to get warm! The kitten survived (hardy little creatures) and he taught us all to do that before getting into a vehicle. I hope that that poor pupper did have something like that happen and their isn't a crazy person out there that did it. It would be nice for a change to not have a human commit an act like that. Thanks for the "glass is half full" reality check!

hey Chrissie..you are right as usual. Thank goodness a human wasn't responsible for this, but again poor pupper. :(

Oh, don't give me more credit than I'm due. I am crushed by the way people treat animals, the environment and each other- but that's a whole 'nother topic.
That story was just so typical of irresponsible reporting. The nature of the media business dictates that it MUST make everything "more interesting"- often disregarding fact. :dizzy:
Anyway, I'm glad that they did a good examination of the dog- and hopefully put the worried people's fears at ease a bit. They need to keep their eyes out for the REAL sickos- and start keeping their pups safe by stopping the free-roaming that goes on. It's just nutty.
