Does anyone use these? I saw one that is "anti-pull" and I think they make special ones for Doxies. Any advice/tips?
I think the harness is the only way to go. Here is a site for my favorite ones, also check out the 'Dream Sacks'..

The hug-a-dog harnesses are wonderful. The only disadvantage to them? - there are a million color choices if you get the fabric-covered ones... it was very hard to decide.:raz:

the hug-a-dog harnesses are THE best. If you go through some of the rescue sites, you can get some $$ off and the rescue gets some $$ too!

is also my favorite harness and they are all I use. Even my two cart wonders have custom made harness for the.
April the owner of Dachshudn Delights is a too friend to the dachshund community.
She custom made Sassy a special harness to fit her. It covers her entire belly and is used as a "girdle" like device to help support her. For those of you that do not know her, my Sassy is is totally paralized from abouth the chest area down and has no muscle tone in the Tummy area. In fact April is making her a new harness to accomodate her special needs.
check them out.

Elvis is a satisfied customer. In fact, I think he may still be in the gallery section on their website.;)

Thanks everyone for your input. I'll be ordering Penny a Hug-a-Dox. I have to say that I checked out the Dreamsacks---I made the same thing for Penny's b'day.

Has everyone had good experiences with these harnesses? Anyone know of dachsies who just don't like them? I'd like to try them for my two boys, particularly Bailey who pulls on the leash. But, I really don't have the funds to "try" something that won't work or they won't wear. I'm not concerned about the harnesses or their quality - really I'm concerned about how my guys will adjust/adapt to them. For a year, they've only had collars.

Jeannie,
I only use the hug-a-dox harness for all of my dogs. I also us them on my rescue while at my hosue. So far everyone has adjusted very well to them.
In fact, I think April would actually refund your $$ if they did not work.

Jennie, Rooby hates wearing anything (the best way to get her to freeze in one spot is to put clothes on her!), but she loves her hug-a-dox harness. She's on her 2nd one now (her picture's in their gallery wearing the one she gave to Abby). :)
You mentioned your boys have only had collars... I wouldn't keep it on them all the time though. We only put them on when we leave the house for walks or in the car, etc. The girls love them because it means they're going somewhere anytime they put them on. I agree with Yolanda... April would probably let you return them if your guys just don't like them.

I plan on ordering Piper one of these for our cross country trip next month. I can't wait! I'm still undecided about what color/pattern to get her, they're quite a bit of money, so I want to make sure it's the right color for her, don't want it to clash against her hair color or anything!
