Hi all!!http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/wavey.gif
Hannah and Lady are doing really good at the housebreaking routine. However, we have had a couple of accidents that are expected.
They have found that if they go into he dining room, under the table, they can't see me, (and I can't see them..) Lady has pooped on my rug and I immediately cleaned it up. I knew something was up, when Hannah came out of the room with her tail between her legs....(she can't tell a lie..http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/angel.gif) and Lady strutted out.
What I need is a recommendation for a good rug cleaner that will remove the scent, so they won't continue to keep going there.
Thanks!!

I've always had good luck with Natures Miracle sold in pet stores. It will also remove pee stains from those spots you never found till they were dry.

Simple Solution is another good one. Make sure to use whatever product you choose, GENEROUSLY as the instructions direct.
And with these cleaners, you usually get what you pay for, so the cheapies probably aren't as effective.

I am not usually very high on Hartz products, but they have something called "Help" in a purple bottle that works better than anything I have tried. It's not at Pet stores, but places like K-Mart, Walmart ... Had a visitor who rreally tried my patience and this was the only thing that really worked on my carpets. Good Luck!

For our little brownie on pee spots we got a little rug cleaner out of a catalog(once I think of the name of the catalog I will post back) to try to get all the pee out of the rug and what we could not we used nature miralce. That seemed to do the trick.

I found the catalog. It is in the sharper image catalog and the web address is sharperimage.com the only problem is it costs around $130 dollars. You might be better getting a full size rug cleaner with the attachments to clean small areas. You might spend a little more, but you might have better results.

Since I am quite experience lately in the pee department, here's what works for me:
First, soak up as much urine as you can. For loose stools, keep some non-corregated cardboard handy (like shirt cardboard, or the back of notepads), & tear one in half (if large enough), then use the smooth edges as scoops & scrape both of them towards each other. This picks up more than any other method.
Then I use Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover: spray & blot up.
Next, a good odor neutralizer like those listed below. Use generously & let sit as directed. Then take an old towel (old towels are not retired until the dog dies), fold into the appropriate size, as thick as possible, set it over the spot & STAND on it for 15-20 seconds. Turn it over & repeat.
This works for a Belgian Tervuren, which produces MUCH more urine than a dachsie, trust me!

Thanks everyone!!http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/bounce.gif
I will locate the cleaner recommended and keep it handy. We have laminate wood floors in the entire bottom of our 2 story house, but it just AMAZES me that Hannah and Lady will find the nearest rug to empty themselves....They are just too much!! What was our life like without them!! Very DULL
I do love to hear them run like little wild mustangs across the wood floors! They definitely cannot "sneak" up on anyone!!
Thanks again, and HAPPY FRIDAY!!!http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/jacks.gif

I'm glad you posted this message! Hee-hee, I can use this advice too. All I've been using so far is 409 foam carpet cleaner - which probably doesn't work.. so everyone's advice is a big help http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Don't use any cleaners with ammonia in them to clean up pet mess. The ammonia just smells like urine to a dog and they will tend to go there again!!! Just a quick tip!!

That ammonia tip is true! Years ago, a woman I knew was using it to clean up after a puppy, & she was having a real problem with the housebreaking. Then, she cleaned up a non-puppy spot, & the pup came right over, sniffed the new spot, & peed right there!
