If Timber does not have an accident for one month should I consider that housebroken? He is nearly 5 months old and hasn't had an accident for almost 3 weeks.

Roscoe, 6 mos, has been accident free for over a month now. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

While I pretty much consider him housetrained, I still take him out at scheduled times and watch for any signs that he has to go. I still praise him verbally like crazy when I see him go outside too, but I don't accompany out him everytime anymore. If you get lax too quickly, then you might find tjem regressing. Rejoice, but still be watchful and adhere to some sort of schedule for going out is my advice.

Congratulations!!

Good advice below, don't stop the consistency and the praise. If you do, likely he will regress.

Congrats!

Everyone likes to hear that they are STILL doing a good job!

When Timber was very little, I would praise him alot and give him a treat. Now, all I say is "good boy" and a little pat on the head. He goes to the door every time he needs to go out.
