http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/dog.gif Hello. I am new to this message board but I have 2 dachshunds. A standard longhair and a mini longhair. Both my boys are about 3 1/2 yrs old. I got Max when he was 2 and Mason when he was 3. Neither one was housebroken. Both are still learning. The standard is doing pretty well but the mini seems to go potty whenever he has to. He doesnt bark or go to the door or sniff around in circles or anything like that. He just does his business. We tried the treat thing with the standard but after awhile he would get someone up at all hours of the night to go out, not do anything and then want a treat. But we started again giving baby carrots as treats to both the dogs. There is no way I would ever give these boys up, even if they NEVER get housebroken, but I just thought that someone might have some ideas for me to try. Thank you!

I have a 1 year tweenie named Mitzi and I never thought she would learn to ask to go outside - but someone suggested we use bells. It works great with only a minor problem (she rings them just to get our attention). Ours are on the front door hanging down about nose level. They are reg. sleigh bells that we got at Hobby Lobby.

How are you doing with this? I have two daschies as well and am having the same problem with one of them. Any ideas?

Thanks
