Anyone else with this problem? Here lately she had been so good doing her pees and poops outside. But today, we had a whopper of a storm come in. I did take precaution and made a "puppypad" out of an old towel by the doggy door. I even put some Downey stuff on it, because I've heard that dogs are attracted to that "angel soft" freshness. Well, things looked pretty good when we got home, but after their dinner, there were slips. At this time it wasn't even raining! Still, she refuses to go outside and before I could catch her, there she went with a puddle. Does anyone else have a problem with their puppers during rainy or even damp weather? At least the "puppypad WAS used. She pooped on it. I'd be curious to know if we have any other dachsies made of sugar on this board.

Yep sounds about right... 5 of mine HATE the rain and will not potty in it for all the tea in china. We have to use newspaper and wee-wee pads when its too cold, too hot, too wet, too dry, snowwy, windy, or if there is too much dew in the grass...LOL Join the gang Maddie we wouldnt want you to melt now would we? hehe http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I am SO GRATEFUL for my large patio covered with an awning. Roscoe and Rudy do their business under its shelter when the weather is bad. It makes life so much easier. I'd rather hose off my patio than clean my carpet http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/wink.gif

Absolutely, we have the same problem. We have to stand in the rain with Annie for an interminable period commanding "Go pee!" before she'll give in. I'm convinced that dachshunds are actually cats in disguise.

Same problem here! Oscar will not do his business in the rain. I even put a raincoat on him and hold an umbrella over him. He would rather just stand a gate for 10 minutes waiting for me to give in, then to just hurry up and go.

Chiefy does not like the rain one bit. His tail is between his legs and we have to drag him..It's terrible. He does eventually go though although he hates it so usually he has diahrria (sp). WHo knows how he will feel with the snow. He does love the cold weather and his coats and sweaters. He prances around like a king. He even gets an erection. One day I was taking off his sweater and he yelped. Couldn't figure out why...i tried taking the coat off again..another yelp..finally i noticed i had caught the sweater around his erection!! Too funny!!

Same with Freddie! Is it a "dachsie thing"? He doesn't seem to mind 40 degree weather (yes, even San Diego has cold nights sometimes!) but if it's just misty, FORGET IT!

Us Too! Shelbie is normally really good at going to do a puddle in the back yard but if its raining - forget it! Nick always stands there in his dressing gown clutching a brolly if its raining at about 10.30 (her last visit outside)with the door shut until she "goes" but she gives him the most resentful stare ever when she comes in!
