Almost 6 months old, and he either pees NEXT
to the p.p.pads, or on the edge of it and it all seeps under it. I don't go through very many pads because of this-just rolls and rolls of paper towels! I went out and bought a 1 oz bottle of liquid stuff and it doesn't seem to work. It was really expensive and smells really bad! Once in awhile he'll do the #1's and #2's in the right place, but I still find surprises all over.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/angryfire.gif

I've gone through that more than once. The catch is, when you are a long puppy and the front legs are on the pad, well ... What I ended up doing was to put a sheet of plastic underneath, a layer of newspapers, and 2 pads. Makes clean up faster. Good luck. Rena (with advice from Tess)

The same thing for Aug. He wanted to use that pad after he go the hang of that it was not a toy. He figured that if his front legs were on the pad, that is what counted. We couldn't yell, he was doing what we told him to do. He can't help it that he's a long dog.
Here's what we did. Two pee pads end to end, and kitchen chairs close enough to get his little butt all the way on the pad. If his tail touched one of the chairs, he would move forward and go on the pad.
Good luck!

Yup, this seems to be a common problem with dachshunds! I agree, if their front paws are on the pad, they pay no attention to where the back end is.
Annie will do a perfect "bulls-eye" on the pad most of the time, then other times for no reason, she piddles on the side of it just enough to get the floor wet. I like David's method with Augie--very scientific!

We also do the 2 or even three somtimes, pads in a row. The last month we haven't put any pads down. My husband has been coming home and letting them out at lunch time and morning was never a prob for accidents for our little guys. The afternoons were the times when they just seemed to go all over the kitchen floor. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/bad-boy.gif Now Wayne puts them in their crate before he leaves and I'm home 3 hrs. later and put them out as soon as I'm in the door. No more accidents in the afternoon and they are ready for some special play and kisses time when they come in. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/happy.gif

Thanks everybody! What great ideas-we'll try
them all! Except for all the "misses", he's slowly becoming a good boy-no more eating walls, ripping curtains...starting to
mellow out a little. He's doing good watchdog duty too! And now that his Mama is home he eats better.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/bounce.gifhttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/jacks.gifhttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/walking.gif
