Both my little ones are pretty much housebroken.....up until Christmas, both were also sleeping through the night and "holding it" during the day when we are gone. (It's generally only 6-7 hours each time)
Chaucer still is, as he has been since he was about 4 months old, but all of a sudden Gidget has decided that her kennel is THE place to pee. This all started AFTER the holidays when the grandparents went home and suddenly there was not a warm lap to sit in ALL the time. I'd think there might be a medical problem, except that she's doing better than ever at not having accidents in the house--and she's starting to tell us when she needs to go out, and when I take her out and say "go peepee", she does...so it's not like she's just peeing everywhere/randomly.
And, it's like it's deliberate. For example, the other night, I took her out and she wouldn't pee. So, I said fine, and put her in her kennel...not FIVE minutes later, she had pee'd in her kennel and started to scream bloody murder.
Now, she certainly knows what to do outside, and she does it just fine during the day....and I know she can hold it in the house since she's now holding it longer without having to go outside, and she'll curl up for a nap, get up, tell me to let her out, go right away and come back in.
She's NEVER liked being in her crate (as opposed to Chaucer who pretty much doesn't care as long as he isn't in there while people are in the room), and during Christmas we slept in the basement where we keep the kennels with them (we made them sleep in the kennels) and she was better about being in the kennel than ever....when we moved back upstairs (when the inlaws vacated our master bedroom), this peeing thing started. Sure seems behavioral to me.
Now, I'm not going to get all that unglued about her peeing in her kennel since it's got a plastic bottom, but I'd like to get her to stop if possible. Any ideas?
