Weiner Dog Race at Oktoberfest

Haven't heard any details about this year yet, but on the first Saturday of each October, Savannah Waterfront Association (Savannah, Georgia) sponsors a Weiner Dog Race as part of the Oktoberfest celebration on River Street. Here's a link to an article in the paper last year about the race:

We took Gretchen last year. She had just had back surgery, so we were only "observers", but we got to meet lots of dachshunds and their families.

If you live close to Savannah, you might want to check it out! I'll try to post details as I hear about them.

Looks like Oktoberfest is happening as usual. The dates are October 1, 2 and 3rd. Here's the info. from the events schedule on the Savannah Waterfront Association website:

"October 1-3
Oktoberfest
It's an Oompah Stomping, Dachshund Dashing, Bratwurst Tasting, Beverage Toasting Weekend with your Friends on the River. Featuring arts and crafts, live entertainment, oompah bands, wiener dog races, fabulous food, and much more!"

Registration at 9:30 a.m. and Races at 11 a.m.
$10 registration fee for full-blooded weiner dogs.
