Well, started my new job today. My favorite thing so far is the 5 minute commute...WALKING. Coming home today for lunch and seeing the girls was WUNNERFUL! Made myself a yummy crab, avacado, tomato, lettuce salad with 1000 island dressing. Just about ready to sit at the table when I notice Maddie is being especially cute. I just had to give her a tummy rub. Off I go, leaving my plate on the table. Next thing I know, Miss Dolly Grub is up on my chair, sampling MY salad! Hrrrrrhumph! Well, being a very UN-"eeeeowww" about dog germs, I proceeded to remove her from my plate and chair and eat my salad! Yummmmmmm!

Good Salad! http://dachsie.org/ubb/blah.gif

http://dachsie.org/ubb/lol.gifSandi, how cute! Now that would've been a great pic - Dolly munchin on salad! I probably would've finished it too, YUM (except no crab for me, thank you!)! You've got it made to walk 5 min. to work!

In fact, what dachsie OWNER could resist it? http://dachsie.org/ubb/facelick.gif

Hope you like the new job as much as the commute and lunchtime!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I was eating blueberries and Wotan was sure he had to have some. His eyes got big, bigger than his face and he almost started to drool. Okay, I fed him one, figuring he'd spit it out on the rug. But seeing that he was on my lap he munched it up.In fact, he ate so many that his little tongue turned blue.
Wotan's favorite salad dressing is blue cheese. In fact, leave the lettuce out and just pour the dressing....

If we go through the drive-thru and get a burger or something, Mickey is just absolutely pathetic! http://dachsie.org/ubb/facelick.gif He'll stare at you, the burger I mean, so hard. It's almost like he's trying to levitate it into his mouth. He starts drooling. Your lap will be completely covered with his drool, unless you give in and give him some though. Then when the burger's gone, he sticks his entire face into the bag, to inspect it in case there might be a forgotten burger still in the bag.

I've noticed that when I'm eating and Wo is on my "lap" (this area may extend from my thighs to my mouth, depending on the yummyness of the food I'm eating)- he's scooting closer and closer until his wet little black nose touches my fork hand ever so lightly. This is unsettling.

There is that ol' staring to levitate food thing too. Just like a vampire-once invited in, they never go away.

In fact, I have to be careful to close my mouth quickly enough after I take a bite, because if I don't, Mickey would take the food right out of my mouth! http://dachsie.org/ubb/eek.gif Mickey does the same thing...he'll get up REAL close to your face while you're trying to eat something. I'll try to pretend that I'm ignoring him, which really irritates him. He'll just stare at me, like he's trying to bore a hole in my head! Sometimes, I'll tease him and hold the fork full of food just outside of my mouth...just to see what he's going to do. To see if he can restrain himself...which he NEVER can! Oh, he makes me laugh. He doesn't even realize how cute he's being. He's just being Mickey!

Sonja, it sounds like Mickey and Wotan are two peas in a pod! With the exception of the geese of course. Oh wait, I just thought of something...we have some neighbors on the other road who have some sort of federal grant to keep geese on their property. They have a whole flock (?is that what they're called?) Wotan can come over to visit with Mickey, and he could show Mick how to handle geese, roll in their poop, etc!
Fun, fun, fun!

Hey, Mickey-Mom says there are ferrets at the pet store. If I look into her eyes and beg, do you think she'll get one for me? It'd be better than a Kongball http://dachsie.org/ubb/bounce.gif

Peaches-the-Hunter found the ferret area at Petco a few months back, when we were still going there. You have never seen a dog more totally focused on a task than she was at somehow getting into that glass ferret house! I had to drag her out of the store (I'm sure you all know what I mean--her four legs splayed and trying desperately to grip on linoleum, her claws scraping along, as I just pull on the leash), and now, every time we walk past the store, she comes completely to life and tries to drag me inside. It isn't the biscuits she wants, either.... http://dachsie.org/ubb/lol.gif

Just when you think dachsies have been bred to just lay around and try to eat the food off your plates, you find out what they really were made for: killin' varmints!

And what's doubly amazing is that once they see a varimint-it's always gonna be in that exact same spot first noticed by them-forever!

Wotan wants to take Peaches out on a date to the petstore. Candle light dinner in the ferret glass house...
