The mommy is red with a black overlay and the daddy is a longhair cream. Is he just a mixed up boy? He sure is a cutie.

It's really, really hard to tell if a puppy will end up a cream or a red until they're at least 6 months old- and with the angle of that picture, it just isn't really enough to make guesses. But he sure is cute- is he going to be Abby's brother?? :D

:D We are looking and hopefully will have another baby by mid-August... He was one we looked at yesterday. I really do not care about the color though. I was just curious as I had not seen another pup with his coloring. He is soooo soft.

Might be a red with a black overlay when he grows up. I have seen lots of reds start out this way. Who knows? He is not telling!

I can't tell if that is white on the chin or just the light. Might have some dappling (or DD if there are pure white splotches that are not symmetrical, in places besides the chest).

What a cutie.

OMG how cute can they get???~~~~~~!!!! I think that he is so adorable it doesn't matter what color. Are you getting a puppy from the same line? How can you hold him and not run away fast. :D
He looks like a red with black overlay to me but then again it is so hard to tell. Like everyone else I don't really know just guessing. But would love to see what he ends up looking like.:flower:

I would really like to have this puppy, but am concerned about health issues. There is no health guarantee or testing. This probably isn't the right forum, but we had some bad news that makes me leery of jumping right in and taking him.

We have just found that our 15 week old (tomorrow) Abby has a luxating patella. She is so young. We will be going to the vet again in the next few weeks to find out what grade it is. The place I got her from has a *very* good reputation and I knew someone that had purchased another breed from them. However, the mini dachs are secondary and they rarely breed them. This was my mistake. :( Abby might not be perfect but we absolutely love her and are willing to do whatever is necessary for her.

I still really want another mini dachshund as a companion for Abby, but will definitely do much more homework this time. I've contacted a few breeders with excellent reputations and none have puppies at this time. I just have to be patient.

Did they not tell you what color this was? Am I correct in seeing a white blaze, white nose, white collar, white front legs and did he have white back legs and a white tail tip? Color pedigree would help define - if it is accurate.
If he didn't have blue in the eyes and since you didn't say either parent was a dapple....I would guess red piebald longhair.

sorry about your young puppy. Luxating patella this early :( They can tighten up so I will cross my fingers for you that the grade is not too bad!!!!

Good luck!!

The photo now in this thread is incorrect. I replaced it earlier with another one for another thread. I'm only allowed 1 picture on the site it is linked to (only one that is not Abby anyway).

OH! And, thank you for the luck Cindi! :)
