Has anyone here used Select Care before? It was recommended by one of the veterinary nurses as a good food to help get Henry's weight off. Any experience with this?

I'd have to see the ingredient list. Is it somewhere on the net? Does Select Care have a website? What are you feeding now? When Owen is over a pound or two, I simply feed less and increase his excercise. However, with it being cold and wet lately, he's over about a pound and a half and I just attribute it to the fact that we really can't get out and excercise much right now. It'll come off in the spring http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I looked at it's ingredients on the wolfepack comparison lists. To sum it up: lots of inferior ingredients.

The dry weight control formula has Corn, oat flour, poultry by-products, oat hulls...herring meal (which might be preserved with EQ before they purchased it)...liver digest....you get the idea.

The canned formula wasn't much better.

I sure wouldn't give it to my dog.

any luck with the canned green beans or canned pumpkin trick??

Working on the green bean diet...Henry LOVES it! Dinner time right now is a bit hectic......Henry gets green beans mixed with his kibble. Dash is on a high cal diet to gain weight and so he gets Satin Balls and regular kibble....and Jake wants to know why he can't have Dash's food or Henry's...poor little guy! Bart and I have to sit on the floor with them and moderate who is eating what....

I wasn't so impressed with the Select Care, but thought I would ask if anyone tried it since the veterinary nurse suggested it (I wasn't totally impressed with her). From now on I will just stick to the advice of dachsie owners and our vet!

And yes, Henry is on an exercise program.....we try to make it fun so he will exercise as much as possible.....

Thanks for all the advice.
