I know we all get a kick out of some of the stuff our dachsies do. What is the funniest thing that they have done?

I love to watch Harley with his Pom cousins. They are lapdogs that don't play much. He wants to play with them so much that he chases them around the house. The whole time there is a barking contest going on. When Harley catches a Pom he will jump on top of them and try to bite their tails! It's hysterical to watch! Too bad I don't have a video camera!

Star is a male alpha wannabe . . . usually he and Bruty start play fighting (Bruty is the male alpha) and then Debbie (the pack alpha) joins in . . . next thing ya know the 3 of them are leaping and cavorting and chasing and play fighting each other . . . but it's Debbie and Bruty against the wannabe. It's very funny and entertaining.

Star is such a clown.

When we first got Stretch, we lived in a trailer park that didn't allow pets, but everyone seemded to have them anyway. But just toi be sure, we always put Stretch in a big oversized book bag. It became his "Bye Bye Bag."

We would pull it out, and his tail would start wagging at 100 milers per hour, and we would put it down and in he went. He was always so excited when we pulled it out. "We are going somewhere, yay!!"

Anyway, one day we were packing to move out of the trailer to a house. Stretch seemed to know instictively what was going on. He sat there in his bed, looking very sad at us. Finally, just as we were about to leave, he ran over to where his "bye bye bag" was and started barking. It was up on a coat hook so he could not get it. But it was summer, and it was the only thing on the coat hook, so we knew immediately what he was saying. "Don't leave me here! I want to come to."

Cassie will poke you with her nose when she wants you to do something. She does it all the time. When I am preparing her food bowl, she will poke me repeatedly to say, "Hurry up!" If she jumps on us and gets yelled at, she will poke in retaliation. If she wants a treat, she will poke. if she wants on your lap, she will come poke your arm out of the way so she can climb under it.

We have seen her poke inanimate objects before (such as vacuum sweepers).

We did not teach her to poke. I guess it is just a way for a very small dog to get attention.

Angel doesn't poke, but she will stamp her little paws on the floor and bark at you demandingly if she wants something. Bossy girl dogs.

:yeahfine:

Willow's quirkiest behavior is centered around her beloved Star Spangled Harness. I got this thing on a clearence rack with the intention of tearing it appart to use the "hardware" on it to make a custom harness for her. But it was near the 4th of July, 2003. We had a little picnic at the VA so it seemed the perfect attire for the day. Well, she fell in love with it! Now I don't have the heart to rip it to pieces.

When we get home I will take her harness off of her and hand it to her. She proudly trots into the bedroom and onto the bed and tucks it in. She will not go to sleep at night until she is sure Mr. Harness is safe and cozy. Sometimes she can only sleep if I hold it for her. Then it is safe and she can relax. I have found the harness on the bed with her floss bone or other small toy tucked inside it! One evening I found Willow, her harness and her big teddy bear (almost as big as she is) sitting on the bed. She had a very frustrated look on her face. I asked her what was up. She looked at teddy and the harness and back at me. So what could I do? I put the harness on the teddy. She was delighted! She tucked both harness and bear into bed and curled up next to them and fell asleep with a big sigh. For such a little scatter-brain she comes up with some scary complicated ideas!

Buddy will stretch out either in the yard or the living room on his belly and drag his hind legs, pulling himself along the ground using his front legs instead of walking. He's gone at least 20 feet like this, happily wagging his tail the whole time! I don't know why he does it but it does explain the lack of fur on his wee-wee! It's funny to watch!

starts playing together, one of them will get all fired up and run through the room at 90 miles an hour.
Its hysterical to watch. Usually its Buddy who goes flying with them ears just flying in the breeze. What is even cuter is watching Ben and Mickey trying to catch him. They only get a wiff of his breeze as he zooms by them. LOL its so funny.
Then by the time they figure out he went ahead of them, here he comes zooming past them again.:D :flower:

I line the dogs bowls(10 of them) up on the bottom shelf of an island in the kitchen, when Schultz gets hungary he will pull down 5 of them ( I have 5 dogs) and toss them around the kitchen. He always pulls exactly 5 bowls never less and never more.

Then I have Daisy who likes to sit on the floor in front of me and stick her nose in between my toes and rub her cold nose, she will sit there for sometimes 20 or 30 minutes doing this.

When I am feeding the girls in the morning, this is their routine:

Angel MUST run over to her crate and pull her bedding through the side of it (towels). Then she will pick up the towel and SHAKE it. Then she comes over to get her food. (I wonder if this is symbolic of hunting and pulling her food out of a den and then "killing" it?).:fierce:

Cassie pokes me and whines under her breath while I make the food. Then when I carry the bowl over to her spot, she runs in joyous circles until it is set down. She always runs clockwise.:circle: :circle: :circle:

Low-la's thing is at bed time. Dangdest thing I have ever seen in any dog I have had. She sleeps in the big bed with me so I take her to bed with me. As we are going past her water bowl she will stop and get a drink of water. It is as if she knows she will be in bed for the night, so she gets her drink.

Like a little kid.

:D Sam does several things already mentioned in this ...zipping thru the house..like he was zapped...nosing us ..so we will pet or touch or play with him....but about the cutest is....he will sit at our feet and sneeze..then whine..then sneeze..to get our attention!if we ignore him...he will just keep it up til we pay attention!..guess sneezing is easier than a big ole bark! hahah. another thing he does to get us to pay attention is if all else fails..he goes for the toes ..if shoes are off! ..i will squeal..and then hes got another game>>chew toes til mommy does what i want!

The story of needing a drink of water before bed reminded me of Rusty. I keep water in a antique cup and saucer with on the bedside table for him and every night when I put him in bed he will check to make sure there is fresh water in the cup. Sometimes he gets up in the middle of the night for a drink, although he is doing it less then when I first got him. He came from a neglectful situation and I have often wondered if he didn't have access to water and so he has to have it close by.
One night when were visiting my son's house I forgot to get him a his water cup and he paced on the bed until I realized that he didn't have his water. After I got a glass of water and placed it on the table he laid down and went to sleep without evening getting a drink.

Ivy loves to go for rides even if we don't go to the dog park. She prefers to go up to the National Forest but we haven't done that all summer.
Anyway, she always makes sure she sits in the doorway of the living room. That way she can see what I am doing. If she thinks I am taking her for a ride she does her helicopter tail spin. Same as Granny. I just love it that she is so much like my first doxie Corey. The only thing different is Ivy is blk/tan and Corey was a red.
I guess because they are so similar she can't do anything that isn't cute to me!
The best was when my Ozcar peeeeeed on my roommates MOM's hassock. He had been telling her to let him out to go potty. That was before she new him very well. She thought he wanted to play and told him to stop. Well he L@@Ked at her and did a glare then lifted his leg and Peeeeeeed! Boy did she move fast. Boy was he glad I didn't see him do it. But then if I hadn't been in the shower I would have let him out. :flush:

Sebastian likes to go for car rides. When he gets the notion that it is time for a ride he will act like he has to go out and potty. I will but on his harness and out the door we go. Then he makes a mad dash for the truck and will sit down by the passenger door and will not budge. Usually I have to go over and physically pick him up and bring him in the house. :dizzy: Next the whinning begins. He will stand at the door and whine until I finally give up and we go for a ride, even if it is just around the block. Are our dogs spoiled or what?!
