Hey guys, need some help on this one. I feed California Natural lamb and rice to Twix due to food allergies. I switched from puppy food to adult when she turned 1 and she doesn't seem to like the adult food as well as the puppy. She doesn't eat much of it. I was wondering if it was bad to feed an adult dog puppy food? Will it make her fat? She is a free feeder. The other thing I thought about is that since I feed a premium food, maybe she just doesn't need as much. She doesn't even come close to eating the recommended amount though. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When I switched Oscar to adult food he didnt like it as much as the puppy either. We tried 4 different bags of food before I found one he liked. We went thru 3 kinds of Nutro(he was on Nutro puppy food)then he finally liked Natures Recipe for hunting & hound dogs formula. Twix just may not like the new food, I think I remember reading somewhere that lamb can be difficult to digest. You could try some different flavors. I think it's probably better to switch her to adult food because her nutritional needs are not the same as when she growing and it probably does have too much fat.

My 10 lb Penny eats between 1/3 - 3/4 cup of California Natural a day. She gets very little "human" food other than a few baby carrots as treats.
Maggie weighs 11 pounds and has a more slender build than Penny, but she eats a good 3/4 cup each day - looks for more sometimes. She's more energetic and active than Penny though so I assume that's why she eats more. Penny is very laid back. She plays fetch and wrestles with Maggie, but mostly she just likes to snooze on someone's lap, or snooze in the sun, or snooze on the couch, or snooze on the bathroom rug, or snooze in the car..... http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/snooze.gif
