Hi, I work for DRNA, and I am not quite sure what you are asking.

Have you picked the dog, been approved, all that good stuff?

In any case...GOOD FOR YOU!

Hey Tom and Kristie,
It's me, the one who knows your baby Lucky. I adopted my second doxie from DRNA (6 months ago). I am sure I went through all that you have so far.

1) First, the long adoption application over the internet, after I had contacted the rep. who's e-mail address was on the DRNA site for Alfie. I knew we were meant to be together the moment I saw his picture http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/love.gif

2) Spoke with her on the phone at length about why I wanted another doxie and about myself and my family.

3) The Home visit (inspection) was next. A very nice volunteer came out and looked at our home, yard, etc. The whole family had to be there. I especially loved this part!! I knew this dog was special when we had to go through all of this!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

4) The approval!! Then it was time to set up transportation. DUR also got Alfie to us. Not quite as far as your tansfer but still about 8 hours.

5) Me, my husband, and my two boys, were all at the designated spot to pick Alfie up. It was very exciting. The woman was in her car when we pulled up, and she got out holding Alfie. It was great!! We all went up to greet him. He ate it up, I must say.

6) And here they all three lay by my feet as I type away. Remember my third is my foster boy I picked up three weeks ago where Lucky is staying.

That's my story in a nutshell. These are wonderful people you and I are dealing with. Very dedicated to the cause.

Once again, congratulations on your new addition. He will be with you soon.

Sorry I have not posted sooner, but we have been really e-mailing back and forth between Lucky foster parents, DRNA, and DUR.

Well we had some of the same experinces that who have had Denise. We just were not told about changes in the way DUR handles transfers, and we had a lack of communications between us and our rep. I was also a little frustrated because we are excited about getting our new baby.

So the new rules for DUR is that to transport a doxie you need to supply a crate, harness, leash, and bedding. I heard that a couple of people got bit transporting dogs, that is reason for the new requirements.

We could not get the transport done this weekend, but from the e-mails flying around now we should have a good chance for the 5th or 6th.

Thanks for your input.

Tom
