OK, Sasha, had a wonderful appetite, until my husband (who thinks love is food) gave her an occassional snack from the table, now she will not eat breakfast or dinner, and I am so worried, it has been going on for about two days and is driving me crazy. I feed her Nutro Puppy Food, and the Nutry Dry Puppy food, she used to love it and run to her bowl, Help

Rest assured that Sasha WILL eat when she's hungry enough. I remember my Vet saying that dogs can go for many days (9 or so) without eating. Sasha's playin games right now and just being a typical stubborn dachshund!http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif
I would ask your hubby to stop all together feeding table scraps. Hopefully he will listen.

good and bad news, Sasha is smarter than I am that is for sure. The canned food apparently was not good, even though the expiration date was May 2003. When I smelled it, I could tell that it wasn't good. I got new cans and Sasha is back on her schedule. But I am not going to let hubby know, I blamed it on the occassional table treats.

I no longer buy canned food (I used to mix it with kibble sometimes) because the same thing happened with me; it was bad! It had a late exp. date. I opened the can and it was black! So no more! I automatically smell everything when I first open it, just out of habit. I think it started when I was younger, I poured a glass of milk and when I started drinking it was sour. I guess dogs instinctively know if something is bad, which is good!http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

The rancid food could have been the cause of her not eating, also pups sometimes go through a finicky stage during adolescence. I think this may be partly because they are still teething and partly because they are teenagers and like human teenagers, like to drive their parents nuts. I don't think a little human food is going to hurt them or their appetite for dog food as long as it isn't over done.
I have always given my dogs occasional treats from the table, like the crust off pizza, the gristley part of a steak, left over gravy etc. It has never bothered them and they've all lived to ripe old ages. I had a friend that I used to go to dog shows with. Her dogs were always on a strict schedule and never got people food. After every trip it seemed like they would get an upset stomach. My guys have stomachs of cast iron and nothing seems to bother them. So I think the occasional table treat does them some good.
