Well, my foster Rocky's AKC papers call his color 'Wild Boar'. Never heard of that one, I would call his color Mahogany Brown, with a 'skunk stripe' down his back and tail a darker mahagony Brown. He really is pretty.

Stanley is a smooth choc and tan mini (more like tweenie to me) and my max was a smooth standard black and tan. I am so interested in all the other varieties of patterns and coats, like wild boar, brindles and puppers that have overlays etc does anyone know any good books or links that i can read about all these beautiful varieties of dachsies. :D I must say i am a sucker for smoothies but i would love to have a wire and long as well.. come to think of it if i could i would have one of every colour, coat, pattern that i could!

This is an old thread but somehow I missed it.

I have Lexie, who's mostly smooth red but mixed with corgi so she's kind of white/cream frosted, too, and Jack, my tweenie boy, is a red with heavy black overlay - Lexie's hair is SO soft, and Jack's is pretty stiff.

Before we met Junji my husband and I believed dahchsnds should be only black/tan or red. We somehow believed they were the only original ones. We thought dapple, pie or other colors were not dachshunds!! (silly but we really thought so)

We are happily owned by Junji, pie boy and Molly, dapple girl. I have to tell you the dream I had the night before we met Junji when I get a chance.:flower:

My cute little babies are smooth reds, all 8 of them. Teensy Boy has a bit of white on his chest and back, and down one leg. Tipper has a white tipped toe and when born had a white tipped tail but that seemed to fade when he got older.
