I remember one of the tweenie smooth coat girls we had when I was growing up (must have been Candy) had a small stuffed pink dog that was almost as big as she was when she first got it. She was only eight weeks old when we got her and not much older when she got her little buddy. She took very good care of her stuffed animals but especially that pink dog. She would sleep with it carry it around the house. She would lick it clean if it got dirty. When ever it would get a hole (they got more numerous as she aged since the material got very thin) she would bring it to you for repairs. She would sit there watching you as you got out the needle and stitched up the new hole. When you finished and gave it back to her she would take it to a safe place and lick it's new stitches. I've never seen another dog of any breed that took such good care of it's toys. We lost Candy to a brain tumor when she was about ten but I'll never forget that little girl.

That is a beautiful story! Very touching! She took care of it like a little baby. The story warmed my heart and makes me want to run home, just to Mickey a big hug and kiss and tell him how much I love him!

Owen feels the same way about his cow. He sleeps with it, carries it on walks, waits for it to be sewn up, occasionally will chew an ear off... I replace it about every 2 months. It's his baby though and everyone who passes us on the street has to stop and comment.
I love your story about Candy. It's so sweet when they have a baby to take care of /ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif

Henry does the same thing. He has always had a "lambikins." We got one of those lamb's wool people shaped toys for when we first brought him home. WE had read that they pick up scents and had rubbed the toy on our arms and legs for when we brought Henry teh puppy home. He had to have his baby with him at all times. If he came to bed and his lambikins was not with him, he would have to run and get her. His first lambikins was "loved to death." He took her everywhere and she was worn so thin her stufing was coming out. Henry woud also fall asleep with his mouth on her (he looked as though he was almost sucking on the toy like a child would their fingers).
Unfortunately, Jakey is not like that at all and will have the stuffing out of a toy in 10 minutes or less. Poor Lambikins the second died at the hands of Jake the little brother. Henry still carts her around, even is she is flat.
Awwww such cute stories about their treasured babies.
Fred and Abbie are my two mini's and they each have their babies.
Fred has a little penquin(sp) that he got the first day he arrived at our house. He carries it everywhere we go. He will chew on other stuffed toys but, not that baby.
Abbie just recently got her new baby it's a little rabbit--about the size of an egg. She never leaves it anywhere. If she goes out to go potty someone has to babysit her baby, then she runs right back in to make sure here baby is fine. She even takes it to our bed at naptime and at night. One night I rolled on her baby and she was so upset--it took a while for me to figure out why she was crying. I felt terrible!! It's really cute to see her cleaning it's ears and body--I really do beleive she thinks it's alive.

Amy,
Where did you get the cow? It looks like it
would be great for our Henry. Is it sturdy?

I get the cows at Petco and sometimes I can find them at Target. At Petco, it's a "Booda Cow" and if they ever discontinue them, I'll be broken hearted. One cow lasts about 2 months, sometimes more... You have to understand, Owen carries it around the neighborhood when we go on walks, drops it all over the place, uses it as a pillow, drags it around Uncle David's backyard... Even with a washing, they get pretty nasty. He also enjoys chewing off the extra little parts, like the tail, the ears, the horns. He usually makes a rip in it, then sits patiently while I sew it up... As soon as I put the needle and thread down, he jumps up for it.
He treasures it... If he some how makes a hole in it though, he will have to de-stuff it right away.
