I got a call from my realtor informing me that the five acres in southeastern Oklahoma that I had made an offer on was accepted by the seller. :bounce:

The land is located in the scenic, Kiamichi mountains and is thick with pines and other hardwood trees. Most of the neighbors I will have are hidden from view because of the heavily forested landscape and the fact that the property is only accessible via a single lane dirt trail, my property being at the end. This area was once home to logging activity decades ago, thus the miles and miles long unused and overgrown trails. The nearest community is about five miles down the mountain with probably no more than twenty inhabitants. The nearest town of Antlers (pop. 2552) is fifteen miles south.

I hope to have a cabin built within the year so that when I'm not out driving, Keylock and I will have a place to romp around. :circle:

You are one lucky guy. That sounds like a dream come true! Much happiness on your new estate - even if you just pitch a tent for awhile. Barbara :flower:

I drove up in that general area while taking Harrison on his trip. It looked like there was a lot of open spaces. Congratulations on getting the acreage. You will love it! I love being out where I am... but subdivisions are closing in fast!!

Home Sweet Home sooner than later....

That sounds so gorgeous to live on the mountain. I would love to be further away from the neighbors and all the traffic. But land is at a premium all over the place. With the trees and being at the end of a road is just to good to be true. I am sure that it will keep you very busy for some time.
I am so glad for you and Keylock! :cheer: :cheer: :verycool:

Here is a link that has a few pics of the property. Although the asking price was $5000, I offered $4000 and the seller accepted.

Great price... It looks great! I can picture a hammock strung between those trees! Do you have a water line out there or are you going to have to get a well dug?

Gonna have to have a well drilled. It's pretty remote. Of the few places up there, few are year round residents. Most are summer vacationers or deer hunters during deer season. Lets just say that I'm already planning on trading my '95 Monte Carlo in on a used Jeep Cherokee 4x4 (I've had several built and modified Jeeps in the past). Beyond my property is nothing but forest and a few very remote deer camps. There are hundreds of miles of abandoned logging trails and roads that have long been overgrown since the logging days decades ago which are begging to be explored. I'm wondering how well Keylock will do learning to ride on an atv??

It sounds wonderful. Buying your own piece of land is always so exciting. Building the cabin should be fun, too. Keep us posted.
