I am so excited. Hubby and I share this computer, that I bought him 2 years ago for Christmas. WIth the both of us using it so much I think it takes its toll.
So I ordered me a dell.
Lord have mercy, it started out at $ 499 but with the upgrades and the new digital camera, It got up to $ 900.00
Oh well it was time.
So hubby will continue to use this one and I get the new one.
Woooooooo hoooooooooooo and a new digital camera....:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
They have now put Internet connection on our cable out here in the County so we will be getting that also.
Oh I cant wait for the fast uploads and all.
Just had to share.
LOL:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I get almost as excited about new computers and gadgets as I do new pups! Isn't that awful? :)
But I am really, really happy for you! I LOVE Dell for their PCs- I haven't been as happy with their latest laptops, but ones we bought a year or so ago are great, too. All tech service stinks- but Dell is really the best you can get.
I can't help but cringe a little when I hear that people spend so much on built PCs- I know plenty of little tricks to keep that cost WAY down. But $900 isn't really that bad at all- and with a new camera included- even better. So- from me!
Congrats!!!

pictures of my crew. I love taking them and then to be taking them with the new digital camera will be lots of fun.
It should all arrive in 3-5 days.
Chrissie
I should send the confirmation email so you can check out everything we got and see if that is good or not. I sure hope it is, since this is the first time we ever ordered a puter off the net.
Oh So many decisions to make.

Congratulations!:cheer: My sister has a Dell, and she really likes it. I have a Compaq Presario and the only real difference we have seen so far is that mine has more memory. That's an easy fix, she is going to buy more memory for her computer. She got her computer 2 years ago and hasn't had any problems with it. I have cable internet, you will love, everything is so much faster than dial up!

Congratulations! I am sure you are going to enjoy both. I really like my Dell (got to support those folks that are part of CTDR that work with Michael), but I do know how that price increases... mine was over $2000 by the time I got done!

Like you all dont hear enough from me now. LOL probably way too much.
I just have the gift to gab I guess.
But I love this board and everyone involved with it. Its so wonderful to know I can come here and post about my feelings when I take a foster to a new home, or when I am excited about something. But most of all is meeting all the wonderful folks here.
Now, just cant wait for you all to get here to Ms. Patrice.
Rena,
I know it would of been easy to keep going with all the addtions you can add.
But I had to stop and think rationally. Hubby had us up to almost 1500 and I went and undone some add ons.
We have this Compaq presario and we have already had to replace the hard drive. I was very upset with that. It cost enough as it was, but then not even 2 years later we put another 400 dollars into fixing it.
I have heard such great things about Dell. I am so excited to get it.

I am on my 4th Dell at home and 4th at school! It is so easy to add stuff to them. All of the computers, except the Mac folks are Dells at Baylor.

We have had lots of Dells (husband uses for his company too) and no complaints except the stupid proprietary notebook adapters... you can't buy them anywhere else or use them on different models and they are impossible to splice back together if your dachshund happens to chew through them (not that THAT would happen). I have been using one for a month that will power the computer but will not recharge the battery because there is one tiny toothmark in it.:yeahfine:

Way to go a new puter and a new digital. :bounce:
I love my dell. Mine was like yours but by the time I finished it was over $100.00 but I also got a very nice printer, fax, copier with mine.

The Dell printers are great- our Gov rep sent us each one for free when they first came out. It's on par with the HP's they used to carry.
BUT... try to find Dell ink cartridges in the store.... :yeahfine:

Dell printers are made by HP. the only draw back is you hve to order ink from Dell unless someone knows of another source.

might carry a generic brand of it.
I buy the generic there for my cannon.
Will have to check it out. If not then will have to order from Dell.

Nope- Dell printers are actually no longer made by HP. HP USED to make printers in Dell's Midnight Grey color- to match their systems- but they were still HP printers which used HP ink cartridges.
Now that Dell has their "own" line- they're actually manufactured by Lexmark. Lexmark cartridges, however- will NOT work in a Dell printer. They won't fit without altering the cartridge- which is potentially VERY messy and expensive!
You have two options with Dell printers... buy from Dell (at THEIR monopolized price... tsk tsk...) or buy refill kits- which are unreliable and messy.
Sorry! :(

 to HP printers .. I have 2 that I love. In fact I have a laserjet that I have had for 7 years now.. no problem ever with it.
The other is a Photo printer and I LOVE it.
:cussing: My LexMark color printer is only useful as a boat anchor. I would never buy one again.

Heehee, Karen! Lexmark STUNK in the past- but they've truly come a long way. And Dell has done a decent job overseeing production- they aren't bad at all (the freebies our rep sent us are personal lasers- nice little things!)
I much prefer the old HP's, though- the last three I've bought have been HP. However- HP? I really hope you never have to contact them for anything... the nice thing about buying from Dell is that they warranty ALL the products you buy in a system. Dell is truly lightyears away from HP as far as customer and tech service... TRUST me- if you're the type who thinks that you'll need support- don't buy anything HP (unless you own stock in painkillers)! Thankfully- they really do make good products (for the most part...). :)

If these folks just really, really knew what one bad experience does to turn some one off to their products they might take notice.. but Nooooooooo... and the ones that outsource their customer support to ...well ....  I better stop now ...

until the end of the year for us.
They wont have it available for us in the County until end of the year, is what we are being told.
So still gotta wait to get faster online.
Dang it I was so excited.
Hubby wont get the phone one, he said we will wait for the cable.
But the computer is on the way. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
