I've got a hard to amuse for very long doxie. Chaucer figures stuff out almost disturbingly quickly....and, like his mommy, once the challenge is gone, it's no fun. (I swear how much Chaucer, who is a complete mama's boy, is like the dog version of me is scary).

He likes Kongs and all, but he's gotten the extracting food from it thing pretty well down, and the only other game that holds his attention for LONG periods of time is fetch, which requires my complete attention (thus making it difficult to do things like cook meals)

Anyway, I finally found a winner toy that he can't get enough of. The small size "Buster Cube" that they sell at PetsMart is awesome. Plus, I can fill it with regular Eukanuba, so there's no mess or sticky stuff (like the peanut butter he manages to smear everywhere) all over the floor when he plays with it. Anyway, it was a pricey little toy ($13 for a piece of plactic with a couple holes), but I'd recommend it for long term entertainment value.

Yes Buster Cubes were a big hit here too... the only problem is that they like them so much they decided to chew through them ...the only non-toy agressive dog i have is Sassie shes very sweet and demure... she wouldnt hurt any of her toys the bad thing is the other dogs come along and kill her stuff... so now her fav. toys are in her crate and she gets to play with them when im off or at night time... poor baby its amazing the things you have to go through to protect her toys...lol Good Luck with the Buster Cube Sassie has one of those in her crate and plays with it and we have had it for about 6mos now shes also the only one that didnt eat through her wiggle giggle ball. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I have a very similar toy for Oscar, I forget the exact name, but its a large ball with one hole for treats to fall out. It definitely keeps his attention, the only problem is he make alot of noise when he play with it, lots of loud gruffing and ruffing. It drives us crazy.

Yep all my kids have loved the buster cube. Even my little girl Aggie who would play with nothing else found the food enough of a motivator to keep going. Tanner hasn't had a chance to play with it yet. Frank like Aggie before him has found a way to have worked the cube into some hiding place that I have yet to find. I suspect it could be an all out war between the boys when I find and refill it.
