Annie's favorite new toy is a chestnut!

She found it while out walking with her Dad. It's small enough that we're afraid she might swallow it, so she only gets to play with it under strict supervision. She plays like a kitten--takes it in her mouth, throws it in the air, then prances around it and bats it with her paws.

That does sound adorable, HOWEVER, I too would be afraid of her swallowing the thing.I've never seen a chestnut, so I don't know how big they are. I do know that a little doxie at my hubby's work swallowed an apricot pit that lodged in his intestines. They had to operate on the little guy to remove it. Another concern I'd have....are they poisonous? How big is Annie? Maybe you could substitute the chestnut for a golfball.

Bugsy also likes chestnuts and the shells! But I try to discourage him when he picks them up. I'm not sure if they're bad for him but the less I have to pick out of his mouth the better.
He did find some quinces in the backyard that he played with just like your poochie but I decided that he wasn't likely to swallow them because his teeth seemed to puncture the skin but he didn't take any bites out of them. I guess they taste bitter.
He was so funny running around throwing this little apple-looking thing all about. Wouldn't let him bring it in to the house though.
