Both of my girls being somewhat rescue doxies, had now clue how to play when they came here as adults. Well, I am pleased to say, each has her own favorite thing to do. With Dolly, she gets the "crazies" in the evening and tries hard to entice Maddie to chase her up and down the hallway. Little Madderoo's favorite thing is playing with Flat Frog. It is a disreputable green stuffie that has no stuffie left in it. She just LOVES to have me throw it and she will ALWAYS bring Flat Frog back to me so I can throw it again. I've tried throwing other stuffies that we have around, but she won't be fooled. If it ain't Flat Frog, she aint buyin'. Funny how all our doxies play and the different personalities they have.

I too have a dog that has a flat toy. Emily isn't a dachshund but here is her story. When we got Em she was just eight weeks old and so small she could hit in one hand. Well I was (and still am) in love with English bulldogs so my grandma got me this stuffed puppet that was a bulldog. I hadn't had it very long when Em decided it was hers it didn't matter that the thing was bigger then she was. She was so cute dragging it around that I let her keep it (grandma didn't mind). She slept with it and generally it went every where she did a kind of security blanket if you will. Just last year it lost its squeaker and its eyes. It lost its stuffing quite a while ago we think the thing is indestructible. It got washed almost weekly it is almost 10 years old and still hanging in there. She doesn't play with it much anymore nor does she sleep with it but she has to make sure she knows where its at every day.
