Well, Charlie's just out of puppyhood since May 1st. However, he's likely Fully grown. Most people who see him assume he's only a couple months old! They can't believe he's almost 1 1/2 years old.

It's it the same for you? People are so interested in him and why he's so 'short' and 'small'!

People always think Merry is still a puppy. Sometimes they do with Bart & Badger too... but Merry is the smallest and seems to get that the most

My mini is now a tweenie. Last weigh in he was 14.2 lbs. I knew he would be on the large side of a mini and wanted him that way. His dad had thrown a few large pups in the past so I expected about 12 lbs. But both mom and dad were 'normal' sizes for minis at 9 and 10 lbs. With my kids I didn't mind if he was a bit larger, felt it would give him more staying power in our nutty household! He is just perfect for us!

The biggest question we get with Buddy is what is he???? With his piebald coloring, and then that perfect stripe down the center of his nose, people get totally confused. Is he beagle? Is he a bassett hound? Funny, adults can't figure him out but we haven't run across one child that didn't know he was a 'weiner dog' as he is most commonly referred to by them.

Butters is a 13 lb tweenie and he gets mistaken for a puppy all the time, even with Rigby, who is obviously a puppy!

Yep they always thought Dudley was a pup, and I'm sure it will be the same with Dexter who is suppose to be a Tweenie. He is the same weight Dudley was at this age, but his legs are longer and he is longer so we will see.

Yes, except once when a young guy thought Cookie was a senior because she has light colored whiskers. Barbara :flower:

Harley is 8 months old today so I guess he is still a puppy. When he sees people he doesn't see much or strangers, he's definitely in puppy mode!

He is 6 months so puppy is a definite thing. But I am afraid that high pitch bark of his will stay with him for life. :yeahfine:
But as long as he is smaller than the rest of the pack others think puppy. I am fineally adjusting to his size. He really isn't that much smaller that Con and Ivy. I hope he doesn't go over 15 lbs. They are both 20 lbs. Oh well so much for a tiny doxie. But then when I picked him out I decided to go with the big puppy instead of the smallest in the litter. :( But the bigger the more to love!:muchlove:

Jinxie is so much smaller than Otto (8 lbs to Otto's 14.5) that everyone assumes she's the pup. I love the look on people's faces when I tell them she's 4 and already had a litter of pups herself!

Back in the 70's, my littlest dog, Taffy, was between 6 and 7 lbs all her life. One day, as I was waiting for a friend to come out of the store, some guy came up and offered me $1000.00 for her because she was the tiniest dachshund he had ever seen and looked perpetually young.

I was insulted that he would even think that I would give up my pup for ANY amount of money!

People always thought my 2 were pups. Jesse weighed 9 pounds and Tia weighs 7 pounds.

When I first adopted Roxy she was 4 1/2 and just starting to go gray and I still had people ask me if she was a puppy! I think a lot of it is that their personalities are puppyish for a long time after they are technically "an adult".

Aggie was always getting confused for a pup. We had to fight to try and keep her weight up to 8.5 pounds. I think her shyness also added to the confusion.

My minis think they ARE still puppies.:yeahfine: :D

Angel is a tweenie now and 3lb bigger than her sister, but they are actually about the same length and height and their weights are proportional... just a big difference in bone structure.

We just had Charlie weighed at the Vet's yesterday and he's 7 pounds, 9oz. So I can see why people think he's still a baby.

Usually at the vet's I'll have someone ask how old is my "puppy". They seem startled when I tell them!

No, not really. I don't think anyone has mistaken her for a puppy. However, we do get a lot of..."Oh, my gosh she's tiny!" and "She's sooo little!". Our Nook Nook weighs about 9.5 lbs and is I guess for two years old is about right for a mini.

Since my seniors are white faced they don't get mistaken for puppies, but the did when they were younger.

I voted 'sometimes' but actually it's most of the time! And Solo is a 5-and-a-half year old tweenie! People pretty much always say this, and about Bacca too: 'What cute puppies!' :D

Okay, mine still are pups.... so probably doesn't count for me yet. ;)

The biggest thing I get are.... "so what kind of dogs are they? Oh they're dachshunds, those are weiner dogs right? I've never seen them with fluffy ears? They're so cute with all that hair." Or with Toby "I've never seen that color before, he looks like a cocker spaniel puppy."

Ponch will be turning 5 in September and I still have people thinking I mean 5 months when I say it.

Most everyone refers to Oscar and Buck as puppies. Sometimes when people drive by as we're walking - they stop and roll their window down to ask me about them.

I think everyone loves a little weiner dog!! I know I do... If I see another one at Petsmart or Petco - I always talk to the owner...and let my little men meet their 'look-alikes'.

Lillie is still a puppy!! Max isn't though, but people don't confuse him as being a puppy. Probably because he is just so manly!!

Actually, I often call my guys "puppies," too, even though they are both probably 8 and 10, or thereabouts. They still play like puppies, so it makes sense. Being small, I guess people just presume if a dog is small, it's a "puppy!" I have a lot of people thinking Jack is a girl dog and Lexie is a boy dog - I haven't figured that out yet!

I think children tend to think more that he is a puppy cuz they associate a small dog with being a puppy. Now we went to Petsmart yesterday and the girl who checked us out said "Is that a wiener dog, cuz I have never seen one that big?" I politely told her that there are standard dachsies and there are mini dachsies and she was like "oh I did not know that". I'm thinking, this chick works at Petsmart? :faint:

Buffys mom used to live across the street, and I always thought she was a pup. I didn't realize mini's were so small, I'd been told Tucker was a mini (not quite at 17#). I finally figured out after they'd lived there almost a year that the pup wasn't getting any bigger. Buffy is about the same size as her mom at 8# and I have alot of people ask me how old my puppy is. I get a big kick out of it.

Everytime I see a mini I think their puppies! Our little puppers will probably be seen as puppies still once they're full grown. We'll see :hearts:

All the time - and our furkins are 5, 6 and 9 years old! Although they always think Xena is the "old" one, just because her head is a wheaton colour.

I even had someone ask me if she was the mother to Schatzi (black & tan) and Oskar (pie bald) - and Xena is a wire! Oiy!

People think my Heidi (approx 10 yrs old) is a pup. For some reason they don't think the long hair, Valentin (5 yrs old) is a pup.

I said sometimes because we are a 50/50 household.
