I have a question. My standard doxie has the stongest jaws! He can and does chew up everything. No matter what I buy, he eats it in a day or two. Hooves are among his favorites but he chews those up rapidly. I cant give him rawhide because he gets too possesive over it. He has some nylabone things that hold up but he rarely chews on those. He likes to chew up tupperware so I have to be careful to leave everything out of his reach. Does anyone have any ideas of safe toys for him that will hold up? I would appreciate all suggestions.

Hi! Have you tried a Kong yet? Our Badger is a pretty aggressive chewer too. He loves Rawhide, but he almost choked on one and I won't get him anymore.
I bought him a Kong and I put either a doggie biscuit in it or some peanut butter and freeze it. He absolutely loves it and they are nearly indestructible.

Hope this helps!

Hi Momy2Mason,

Our mini Bugsy is also a terrible chewer, too. but I think I've found the perfect ball. It's called "Dur-a-ball" and I think it's great. We have a kong too but Bugsy lost interest in it quite early on. This ball is a bit softer than a kong but in the month or so that we've had it, he has only been able to chew out the smallest of nicks.
When I first brought it home, he was sooo excited to play with it and spent many hours for the first few days only playing with this ball.
(Doing a quick web search to see if I can find a picture of it)
It has little dimples in it and he just loves bouncing it around off all types of surfaces.
(Couldn't find any website.)
Anyway, that's my 2 bits. We've had other indestructible balls but none that have entertained him like this one.
I bought it at our local pet "supermarket" supply store.
Hope that helps!

Sandy, I bought a kong for my dog Max. When I first gave it to him he went to work right away. However, within minutes he ignored it and went back to chewing on his hoof. I think he may use it occasionally though. I will have to see. Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you tried putting something in the Kong? I don't let him have it all the time. I put a biscuit or peanut butter in it and give it to him a couple of times a week.
I also got Badger a Galileo bone after someone on the board suggested it. He likes that too. He enjoys the All natural dog chews. They are completely edible, so I don't worry about those like I did with the Rawhide.
I hope you find what works for your furbaby. They can be picky.

All the best!

Booda Velvet BIMPLES are good too. Petco carries them. They are completely edible and come in a variety of flavors like Santa Fe Chicken, Cheeseburger, BBQ Beef, etc.

Yes, I put peanut butter inside the kong and he just held it and licked it out...lol...he didnt do much chewing on it. But i think if i bout the peanut butter far in the little end, he might not be able to get at it so easily. It is humerous to watch Mason play with it though....(he is the non aggressive chewer) when he goes to grab it, it rolls away only he doesnt realize it goes in a circle and he chases it. However, Max hasnt destroyed it yet! Thanks for your suggestions everyone!

Try freezing the kong after you put the peanut butter in it. This will prolong the fun. The great thing about kongs is that they are freezer/dishwasher safe. For aggressive chewers, go for the black kongs.
