Looks like he's hitting FL Monday-Tuesday!
He destroyed 90% of Grenada's homes and killed 15 people there.
Is there every going to be an end to these storms?

HOrrible HOrrible! I don't think Florida can take anymore rain. It's already a Cat 5 too. We on the Gulf Coast are keeping a closer eye on this one since it looks like he will go into the Gulf. Our hope is that he picks up speed and gets it over with. I plan to go on a short weekend trip w/a girlfriend but it may not happen if he decides to sit in the Gulf and play games w/us.

Yep. :(
I think some jerk may have taped a "Hurricane Me" sign to my back.
At this point- we're all ready to throw our hands up... cleanup from Frances has BARELY begun- there's no way all the downed trees and debris will be removed in time. Orlando still has plywood on windows- and... if the NEW ugly mass heading off Africa's coast turns into anything (as I'm pretty much assuming it will, in my currently pessimistic state of mind)... it won't be coming down anytime soon.
This year? Not so great for Chrissie. But I figure... if I can make it through ALL THIS CRAP... nothing's ever going to be able to take ME down. :D

Just saw an updated map....shows the predicted path going through Florida from the west coast and heading out from the east coast to the Atlantic.....So Chrissie....I would leave the boards up! Seems like Orlando is right in the path of it.

Good thing I didn't plan a trip to Disney World like we were talking about. That would have been very sucky!
Chrissie, I think we need to send you rays and a big hug!

Okay...Chrissie we KNOW it's not you, so would you please go hunt down whomever has the really, really bad hurricane karma in Florida????
You take care of yourself - I really don't like the current look of Ivan....

Heh... MUCH of Orlando has plywood up- not us. You can't find it anywhere now, anyway. :dizzy:
This darn house just won't DIE! I think, at this point... that I would be QUITE pleased if it were just whooshed away, insurance paid us off, and I could finally walk away from the disaster that my lovely little "dream house" has become. ;)
In fact.. I may just leave the windows OPEN this time...
Thank you for the hug- boy, I almost forgot how great a big hug feels. But for your own safety... just stand back! I may be jinxed. :)

I've been watching this one and hoping it would die off, but it doesn't seem to want to. We got the remnants of Frances for the past two days here in CT, I can't imagine what the rain must have been like when it was a huge storm! My neighbors are heading down to Disney World in a few weeks, a wish fulfilled for their daughter who has leukemia, think I'd be wishing on another star at this point.
To all of you in the paths of this storm, hugs and rayz going out for your continued safety!!!

It's been a rough season on FL so far. I've been in constant contact with friends and family down there. Everyone has been fine; mainly torn up trees and fences, but most of them have kept the boards on their windows for Ivan.
Of course, my heart stopped when I heard about Grenada. One of my best friends is from there, and still has family there. They are all fine and alive, but every one of them had very significant damage to their houses. Very scary.
We only got hit with the remnants of Frances yesterday, but she flooded and shut down 90% of our subway system for the morning commute. Most of the people I knew had a 2 1/2 hour commute, if not more. One girl stayed home because she had no train to take.
Still keeping my eye on all hurricane reports. Very worried about all those in FL......

My mother in law was stuck in St. Petersburg last week and finally got to come home on Monday night. Mark's baby brother is getting married this weekend and they had their honeymoon booked for Disney World flying out Saturday. They have already postponed the trip. Everyone stay safe and run if they tell you too. Couldn't bear to loose any one of you. Chrissie now would be a good time for an inland vacation. Ohio's startin to sound better all the time isnt it ;)

I am very concerned about this one. It is headed directly for the Discovery Bay Marine Lab in Jamaica where I have spent many weeks of my life for the last 30+ years. I have lots of fields that are life family to me there, so it is a source of major concern before it even thinks about heading for my friends in the Keys and along the west coast of Florida. The latest news suggested this stuff is going to keep happening for the next decade or so.

I heard on a news report this evening that there was a weather system that ought to start impacting this storm... shearing off some of the top? basically taking some of the punch out of it. I pray that is true.. I know Florida can't take another hit.

Well looks like our luck here on the Gulf Coast may have run out. I am glad that southern Fl looks to be in the clear w/Ivan, but the more I watched this weekend, the more we were put in the projected path area. :crying: So, looks like we will be hitting Lowe's or HOme Depot today and getting the plywood and batteries we have delayed getting. Our house is about 1 mile from the water so we will be leaving it and going to my parents house which is slightly north of us. I get to go home today and do all the laundry...darn...:yeahfine: hoping I wouldn't have to get it ALL done .....:dizzy: .

Best to get prepared Early. It looks like it will for sure hit some where on the upper Gulf Coast.
