But we're sure there are many knowledgable DBBers that still actually use IE. Good luck and many DBB Healing RAYZ to your computer. :D

What type of problem are you having? What patch was it and can it even be un-installed?

and all of a sudden it is making a nightmare of trying to sign on to some areas with passwords, got them all screwed up and won't let me change them. Websites like Best Buy which require cookies - tell's me that I need to reset my cookie level(which I have) keep getting same message. Alos printer and digcam dont work as well. Could be coincidence but I think not, I just wanna get rid of the junk and get back to the surfin I used to enjoy.

NOT to install XP SP2 . . . mostly because we don't need any of the enhancements and we've never had anything but probs with M$'s XP firewall (we would just like to keep it like it is . . . off). :)

When I get time I will try to search M$'s support page to find the uninstall . . . assuming it exists.

Sandi, if you have System Restore turned on, this may help to uninstall SP2 it:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;875355

If not, try this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=875350 This one just states how to remove it from the Add/remove control panel and 3 other ways.

Also, read this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=878454

I personally haven't installed SP2 as I'm waiting for them to fix problems. It's like what they did with Windows 95b -- I think it was 95b. They pretty much killed the OS when they released that service pack.

If you need any help in doing the above work, let me know.

Do you know how to do a system restore? SUPER easy... and the only things you'll lose are any recently added programs or registry changes.

SP2 automatically sets a restore point before it installs (that's ONE nice thing I can say about it... ;)). You can find system restore under All Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> System Restore.

It uses a wizard- simple to use. Just follow the directions and choose a date before SP2 was installed (or if you know what day it WAS installed- choose it). You can always reverse it if you screw things up worse. :)

System restore is a default setting on XP- but it IS possible to turn it off- in that case, you do have to go through some loops... :(

And yeah... no SP2 for me yet.

I put SP2 on 8 machines (desktops) last week... but they had NOTHING on them before so there was nothing to mess up.

My co-worker put it on his laptop... and after an hour... started the removal process... took him 4 hours from start to finish...

I won't do it for a WHILE on my laptop!
