Ear hair

Paisley (a 2 year old...gosh, already?, mini red longhair) has black wispy bits of hair on her ears that grow so long she sometimes trips on them if I don't keep them trimmed!
The rest of her ears are red and of normal hair length for a longhair. These long black bits are so cute, and I'm sure it's quite normal, but is there any explanation for them? Are they just a thing that happens, or is there a genetic use for them?
She looks like she's plugged into the ground when she's lying down!

I dont have that problem with my longhairs.
But I am sure one of our members will be able to contribute to as to why.
Buddy is my furriest longhair.
But not with the long tails off ears, like you mentioned.

Trixie had several hairs like that, but then the groomers cut them off. :(
