I know that most of you couldn't care less...but I needed 10 seconds and a brief forum to gloat that Canada won the World Cup of Hockey tonight....(3-2 over Finland)
Tomorrow we wake up to an NHL lockout - so expect the Canuck DBB-ers to be rather morose until the national "religion" gets back into action....
ETA - I have no idea why I felt like putting the title "en francais"!

It means "Canada gains the world cup". C'est si bon! Je suis tres heureux pour vous! Yeah, so I took French in high school and college, and I have had two French exchange workers in the last 5 years - I even had an aide years ago who spoke French (among 6 other languages). Rick says it'll come in handy when he decides to build our house on his land on Allumettes Island in Quebec!

But Juliette, you did it with our coach!
Hitchcock is da man!
They expect a lockout! Whatever do I do for the next 10 months!! :sob:  :crying:
I'm a diehard hockey fan! The show must go on!!!! Stupid salary caps. Hockey players are some the lowest paid professional players, unless of course you own the team - ahhhhhmmm Lemiuex.

Hubby is Canadian, Newfie to be exact, and yes I am a sports widow during hockey season. Get him and his mother down here together watching a game, and the rest of us pretty much don't exist. I learned years ago neither of them can be trusted to watch the kids during a game.
Surprising Hubby when he gets home by flying the Canadian flag I bought for him during our summer vacation in PEI.

Surprising Hubby when he gets home by flying the Canadian flag
awwwww...that's sweet.
Every July 1st our house is decorated with the Canadian flag, the Ontario Provincial flag and the Newfoundland Provincial flag - lest I ever forget that I too am married to a Newfie!

What part of Newfoundland is he from? Hubby is from Cormack, one of 6 kids raised on a root vegie farm. I have a NF flag to fly, but it has rivets in it, not a tube that I need for my flag pole. I worried that it would be disrespectful to the flag to sew it so I could fly it so I've never touched it. Would love to be able to fly that for him some day!

Chris is a townie - orginally from St. John's and the folks now live in Three Island Pond.
We don't have full time flag poles - so we have a system where we hang the three flags through our front balcony on poles for the days that we use them (they also have rivets, but that's what we needed).
You can pick up the proper type of flagpole flag through the Downhomer
Link for newfoundland flags (http://www.shopdownhomer.com/pgi-speedsearch3?Newfoundland%20Flags,126,4,=,F)
Of course, you could really mess him up and get the "pink and green" republic of Newfoundland flag!!
