HI just wanted to let you all know that we are hunkered down at my parents house just south of I10 but high up. Our area was evac'd by noon today and we managed to board everything up and sandbag what we could. I feel good for us as of now because we are west of the storm eye so we won't get the intensity of the high winds. Unfortunaltey, my best friend is in Mobile and I have't managed to contact her today. I can only pray that she is safe. Anyway, Gulfcoastdoxies is also in it's path (GUlfport) so I hope and pray she is alright also. We are going to unplug everything here in the next few minutes but wanted to let you guys know our status. Ivan is not as strong as he was so that is a good sign. The pups are safe and playing w/my parents two dogs having a ball and the kids are flipping through books (they are sitting in my lap right now tho). Anyway, I will check in when I can!

well, looks like the eye is going to hit Moble and Pensacola will get the brunt of the eastern winds. Florida just doesnt' need any more of this. And now Jean is following right behind Ivan and looks to hit the eastern coast of Florida on up. How awful. This seems to be a busy year for these storms. Right now, outside our window it is gusting pretty good but we still ahve power. The bad part about having to evac is that we are here and our house is not. When we left this afternoon, it was like a ghost town. EVeryhouse was boarded up....it really looked sad. They are predicting the storm to land sometime late tonight or early mornig. Say a prayer for all of those east of us...I don't think it looks real good for Florida rigt now....again.

No more.....we just can't take anymore storms. I haven't had the boards off my windows in weeks, it's like living in a cave. Of course the dogs do sleep longer in the morning.

Blow out Ivan and Go Away Jeanne! Neither of you are welcome.

You can bet you and all your neighbors are at the top of my prayer list. I wish these storms would just go away, enough is enough. Be safe and keep in touch.

Enough is Enough already! We will just keep praying for all of you in those area's.
I can't imagine having to have everything boarded up like that. The sun will shine on you again. Maybe not today but I sure hope just around the corner. Stay safe and dry!

Actually- they're saying Ivan the terrible may be our saving grace with Jeanne. :)

I'm awfully sorry- I'd never wish him on any of you for anything. But we sure don't want another east coast attack... OUCH, Frances hurt....

Pretty off topic- and really, NOT trying to make light of a very serious and scary situation... but WHEN have you heard the word "hunkered" so much? It's such a silly word- and it just pops up whenever a hurricane does. Hunker, hunkered, hunkering... heheh... :)

Stay safe! :hugs2:

Now stay safe.
We are going to get the strong winds, rain and possibly tornadoes.
:yikes: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:
I have never been through anything like this.
I am just totally freaking out.
Prayers for all our Gulf friends.

Glad you are okay.... hopefully, Gulfcoastdoxies are already far away from Gulfport... I understand that the flooding there is already bad.

I just saw Mobile on the news a few minutes ago. It's very windy and raining really hard. Definitely not weather to be out in!!

Everyone in that area stay safe!!!

That Amelia and Lacy are STUCK in Pensacola and could not get out today. They did not get to board anything up (except the bedroom where they are at right now) I am Sooooooooo worried for them. They said their house is strong and it held up through Opal, which was a category 3 hurricane. Anyway, PLEASE be thiking of Amelia, Lacy and their Hooparents. Sue is VERY scared of storms. She said the girls were sleeping through all the crashing around she could hear going on outside. (I just got off the phone with her). Their power has been out for about 5 hours now.
Anyway, send them lots of Rayz and Prayers as well as everyone else who will have a very ROUGH night of it, even those who will be watching out for Tornados spawning from Ivan. There are several dachshund people riding the storm out in the "Hit" area. I hope they all make it through it.
STAY SAFE EVERYONE, We are sending LOTS of Dachsie Prayers to ALL of you!

All the rayz seemed to work for me. HOwever, our Alabama and Florida friends can't say the same. We suffered minimal damage and only cosmetic stuff...downed trees, fences etc. Nothing compared to the devastation to the east of us. My heart breaks for all of those people who have lost their loved ones and homes. My daughterwas complaining about having to go to work w/me today (shcools still closed) and I told her that at least we still had our lives, our home and our silly little material things. At least we have something trivial to complain about. All those others have nothing. :( Thanks so much for all your rayz! I hope others who were in the path faired well.

And Chrissie you are right....I am sick to death of that darn term "hunker"....if I never have to hear that word again, it will be too soon!;)

Even my sister, who is about an hour North of Atlanta, felt the effects of Ivan. She called me last night as I was making dinner and I felt so bad for her. Stayed and talked to her for a long time, then she felt she needed to get off her corded phone and go elsewhere in the house. She was all alone and was watching sections of her roof come off. She had lots of singles shingles flying around and a 4' x 4' section of it laying in her front yard. Her front entranceway is 2 stories of glass and she was worried some shingles would blow through there. Haven't spoken to her yet this morning. We've actually been out of power for the past 6 hours and she must be out now as well.

I'm so happy to hear from you guys. TRUST me- I know how frightening these storms are. It's not fair that anyone has to go through these. The tornados that killed are my absolute worst fear during a hurricane- they come when the power is out, and people have no warning. :(

I'm thankful that you are okay! STAY that way, please! I can't wait to hear from our other gulf members. :hugs2:

to my suprise the regular phone lines were working in Pensacola. Sue told me that Amelia and Lacy slept through the WHOLE thing. Sue and Carl didn't sleep a wink. Sue said it sounded like a freight train was coming through their house. All the shingles are off of their roof, lots of debri, 2 rooms in the house has sagging ceilings due to the leaks. Sue said she spent the night listening to "Drip, Drip, Drip" and putting pans and whatever she could find under those drips. She said panels of the privacy fence are down and the RV sustained damage from Debris. All in All they have about 30,000 dollars damage to their home, but they are all alive and not a scratch. She said the girls were so good and didn't ask to go out and had no accidents from 5 pm until 10 am. Of course they are without power and likely will be for quite some time. They do have the self-contained RV that has a generator, which they will use, but have to be thrifty with the gasoline, because they will likely not be able to refill for awhile. I think I would leave the area if it was me and go north a few 100 miles, or West. for a week or two.
Anyway, I am SOOOOO happy that everyone seems to be okay.

that everyone of you came out alright.
We faired pretty good in MS, However our dear neighbors in Mobile and Gulf shores, Pensacola FL sure did not. They got the brunt of the storm. Bless them, I hope they are all ok.
We really were thinking it was going to hit the coast of MS/Louisianna.
But it changed directions.
I am so so sick of Hurricanes.
Enough is ENough NOW!!!!
Sending Mega Prayers for all of them, that lost lives, family and their homes.
