1. On the "other" (shh) board we noticed how many dachshund lovers are born under the sign of Cancer - late June to late July. What signs are you? [That sounds so '70ish, I guess I regress when I'm tired]

2. Who else has a dachsie who - every time you call them over to you - lays down and rolls over JUST out of arm's reach? You'd think someone with such short arms and legs would be sensitive to distance. And do they help scoot up? No, just lay there like a bag of wet cement.

Peaches is my bag of wet cement. I thought she was the only dog in the world who did that! Farfel comes running and sits directly at my feet, looking up adoringly at me. Peaches trots in my general direction, perhaps taking a moment to sniff the carpet or scratch her ear, then flops down onto her side, just out of arm's reach, and wags her tail! WHY do they DO that???

By the way, for those of you who have THE calendar that we were talking about...the standard longhair who is sitting up on last Friday's page looks exactly like Farfel, except that Farf is smooth (but his mom was a longhair so he has many of their traits). http://dachsie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Oscar is wonderful. Bounces into your arms. Always close. Frankie is the rolling bag of wet cement. I hate it most when I am lying in bed and he wants up. He whines and whines beside the bed and when I reach down to pull him up he backs down the hallway. So I get back into sleep mode and he whines and whines...

Every time I end up getting out of bed, grabbing him (cement) and tossing him on the bed -- where he proceeds to get comfy right in the middle of my warm spot. He becomes cement again when I get back in and try to push him out of my spot.

Since I don't actually have a dachsie, I WILL tell you that Penny's mother is also a Cancer. This is really weird. ("What's the best kind of dog for me?" "So, what's your sign?")

Penny is a bag of wet cement WITH ROOTS when anyone is eating. Wave a pork chop or chicken leg at her, & she will follow Godzilla right off the edge of the world.

Isobel does the "weiner dance" -- shimmy, shimmy, hop, hop, flop when I say "Bye Bye" or she sees the lead come out. And of course this is happening just out of my reach. Duck Butter is definately one of those "roll over on your back, just out of reach" :rooleyes: doggies. Most the time I can latch my finger thru her collar and slide her closer. I'm not sure what her Doggie Sign is, she was born Oct. 20. Masse is totally different and does not act like a 'bag of wet cement" . . . she tries to shinny up your leg http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif to get some of that good lovin'. She was born Sept. 3. When I see one of those "in the future" flicks all the actors are wearing black leather or pieces of costumes that look like Madonna in her early days. I envision the future to look like the early and mid-70's with glitter balls hanging down from ceilings and plastic leisure suits gyrating around, folks swinging they're gold chains. Whoops, don't forget the platform shoes...

The difference would be that smoking would be illegal and so would drinking (back in my youth that was the major reason for sneaking into a disco) and of course you could only attend if you were married and this fact was certified by a minister of any faith...They'd card you at the door for that.

Ahhhh-Wotan barks me back to reality. Smiles.
