New forum looks great! Good job! Must admit though, I do miss the doxie pics on the head of the forum... :sob:

Getting my feet wet with the new set up, I am wondering if you still have an option here where I can read new posts from my last visit. I tried n advanced search, but it wanted me to select a word to search for. Am I missing something? That was a great option on the last set up.

Looks Great! Very different feel to it... it's probably going to take folks a little while to get used to. Great JOb!! :appl: :appl:

I think it will be a learning curve to us all! Please let Jean, Mark or me know if you notice anything broken! :appl:

Sandy,

What you're seeing is VBB's *Default* style. If you scroll down to the bottom left of the page you'll see a "quick style chooser" box where you can choose your own "style".... which includes DBB's NEW logo (designed by our very own SuperMod, Chrissie!) :)

Sandy,

After I logged in I saw the picture. YES, I wish the new Logo was on the main page also. It took me a few minutes to find my unread posts -- look at the upper right had corner.

A totall different feel, and I hope I can adjust to it soon. Looks great now lets see it it is users friendly to us NON computer people.

It is telling me the spell check page is unavailable.

WOW! Dropped in today and was shocked to say the least. Thought I was in the wrong place  Looked at the header and saw it still said DBB but boy - sure is pretty :appl:

Well done to Jean, Mark, Bob and Chrissie for all of the hard work to test, design and install this new system. I'm sure we're all going to love it!

Now, I just need to find the moderator tools, get used to not looking at the latest post first (can we change that?), and locate the private message section!

Wow! This is so cool. Now, I just have to get used to where everything is. :appl: :appl:

I thought I was losing my mind when I logged in this morning! Guess this means I'll have to check in more often to get used to it quicker?! :D I like it though.

Stuff I noticed:

So now newest msgs on the bottom? See, I've been reading backwards! :faint:

I did notice that the "online" graphic for a lot of us isn't working. :dizzy:

Big hugs,

Andi... what style are you using?

The order of the posts (newest to oldest / oldest to newest) is a setting in your UserCP. J... PMs are on under "Quick Links" :D

Cindi
09-26-2004, 11:05 AM
I'm computer illiterate and my posts are newest to oldest....but I went in and changed mine immediately :) Had to do a leeeeettttlllle searching to find it but I did it :wavey: So I know all of y'all can do it! I believe Blazeman is doing an update this morning so maybe that is why everyones settings have changed and you might have to go change yours individually  Not sure cuz as I said, I am a computer dummy!!!!
Right now my screen is green and normally it is yurple purple!!!

Nice look. At least the style from the old version of VBB are still here. So you don't have to get used to another color scheme.

Has anyone noticed the thread views? You can put it like the old style, where it's one after the other (linear), a hybrid (threaded view with linear), and a threaded view. The threaded view is one post at a time and you click the a post in a threaded view. That view will be nice for those on dialup and on a really long thread. One thing I haven't figured out yet is how to reply to a post in threaded view. I don't see "Post Reply".

You can also search thread, though you could do that before with your browsers "Find" feature.

It'll take some getting used to, but not bad!

Where can I find out what all the little symbols mean? Like the little red thingy on the far right at the top of some posts but not all...and then the little flower thingy that I just saw on Steven's post <G> on the right hand side also. I have such a nosey mind......

Heehee... the flower is for ICQ instant messaging. The Y is yahoo. The little running man is AIM. ;)

Don't worry- I PROMISE! This software is very very user friendly- we all just have to get over the initial bump!

And I guess I just realized that the little red thingy next to the numbers for the posts, WHICH I REALLY LIKE, is to report bad posts??? But I don't have one next to my posts so you can only report certain ones? The little red thingy I was asking about other than the duh ones, is next to the numbers for the posts....oh wise one.

Well I kept looking for a way to change a few things found all but one. I was about to post to ask if I could make the change and see it has now been changed by default :D. I was going to ask if the forum status icon column (left column) at the new post page could have the extra text switches off so the rest of the page wouldn't get squashed.

Good job everyone.

To find out what an icon is, hover the mouse over it for a few seconds and a tool tip should appear.

Wahoo!!! :bounce: I see Doxies on the header! Awesome job Chrissie! :bowing2: Are those the doxies of all of our moderators? Very cool!

Now off to learn, check out new things, you'll have to excuse the questions if I ask them, I am quite blond at times when it comes to computers and LOTS of this stuff goes right over my head. Accounting I can do, for the other stuff, I married a computer geek!

We'll see if you can teach this old dog (owner) new tricks!

Although I notice SuperModerators aren't affected :D ;)

One other thing..Next to my avatar is the line "Juliette is currently on line" but I suspect that there is supposed to be an icon here as the "graphic not available" box with a red X in it is right next to it.

what about our top 30 blubberfingers?

dutchman
09-26-2004, 02:18 PM
The members class shows on the members page. To get the top blabber fingers click on the posts heading on the members page. It will sort all members by the number of post made.

Bob the forum status icon column is wide once again with extra text for threads I have posted to. I'd rather have just the icon and not the text there. That text really compresses the rest of the current post information. For a little while it had changed back to the old style of just an icon no text but has now changed back. So far I haven't found a user option to change this behavior.

Thanks,

Steven

The members class shows on the members page.
Tom, I'm not seeing any class info in the member profile or member list, except for "Registered User" for us non-mods, and "Mod" and "Super Mod" in the member profile. Not a big deal, but just wanted to point it out.

So, perhaps Bob or another super mod has to set the classes again.

Bob - I only use the default style (figure that's the most logical to work around if I have to guide somebody else). My thread style is the linear.

Also, if you hover your mouse over the post for a few seconds, then a synopsis of the first few lines up to 7 lines shows up so you can see what the poster has started writing about. That's a cool feature.

You can find this under quick links, or at the very bottom of the main DBB page!

Really like reading first post first, if I just want recent posts to thread I've read, can click on page two etc. Hover showing part of first post is helpful too.
