I just had to share this with you all! I was in the basement browsing the board and had left Twix upstairs as she hates it down here. I heard some strange noises and then a crash so I went up to see what she was up to and as I came up the stairs I could see my new dining room table centerpiece! There she was in all her glory right in the middle of the table looking at me with the *oh, no, I just got caught* look . And to top it all off as I reached to put her down she jumped off the table and began to do the sprinting through the house thing as I glared at her . It took all I had not to laugh. The joys of parenting!!

I know that "uh oh" face quite well. I could just picture that wee one in the center of the table with the big eyes--looking guilty and oh so adorable. I always have to turn around or leave the room before I spoil my scolding of Isobel http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

They are a hoot!

Growing up, about forty years ago, we learned our lesson about leaving chairs pulled out around the dining table with our first dachshund. We were all either outside or down in the basement with dinner on the table when we heard a noise and found Missy had gotten up onto the table and stolen the whole roast off the platter and had it on the floor eating the feast of her life.

Truth be told, I had suspected that she had been on the table before but never caught her and so the chairs were pushed in--or so I thought!! I still can't figure out how she got up there. You know, I have no kids so I have no practice at scolding while laughing on the inside! The sad part is that she knows she has me wrapped around her little paws!

2 years ago at Easter, my brother gave his little girl a pygmy goat. My brother lived in an apartment so Heidi lived on my parents farm. We had the goat in an x-pen outside.
As we were finishing our Easter dinner, one of the kids noticed that Heidi was out. We all jumped up from the table to run out to catch the goat. While we were gone, my mom's tweeny long rescue, Joey, jumped on the dining room table and was helping himself to the ham. Just a typical holiday meal at the Mitchell house.

When Wotan helped himself to steak on the table- he didn't even have the decency to look guilty. He never does...

I guess he knows I am his slaaaaave....

My ten week old, Sadie, looks hopefully up at the table and tries to take running starts to jump up there, but for some reason just can't make it! I can tell I'll have some "centerpiece" stories to tell when she gets a little bigger! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

After seeing her up there that first time, I have caught my centerpiece a few more times. I can't figure how she gets up there. I know she does it to get attention, because she only does it when I'm doing something else. So, which one of you sent the dachsie rayzzz that spoiled my dog into thinking I had to pay attention to her all the time?
The worst part is that she knows that is not a place where she is supposed to be and as soon as she sees me looking at her she jumps down and I know that is so bad for her back!
Any suggestions?

No suggestions, just understanding. I'm still trying to figure out how to keep Isobel from laying half on the arm of the couch and half on a side table---as she helps herself to whatever I may have in a glass . . . .and the Gardetto's snack mix. My fault--I keep forgetting to move it close to the ceiling what I have to run to the bathroom!

Bad dogs!!! But sooooo darn cute!
