I have a good one.. I know you all seen some of my posts about my rescue Bailey and how he barks and goes nutso when the little ones come knocking, like he wants to take their head off!

Well this morning I was upstairs folding wash , and my son was outside playing with the neighbor kids and all the sudden I here my son Matt open the door and then he yells up "Mommy Bailey is out", I was afraid to even look. I ran downstairs and out the front door, still in my jammies http://dachsie.org/ubb/blushie.gif and here is my sons little 5 year old friend , Jacob running around in circles and Bailey chasing him, the little kid was crying and the other 2 kids were telling him to stop running.

I ran out and picked up Jacob and sat down on the curb and I was sure Bailey would try to run away but he came up to Jacob and started licking Jacob on the face http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I then said to the boy, "Jake , I think Bailey thought you were playing follow the leader, thats why he was chasing you. Jacob turns and says to me " Bailey is not mean , he is a nice dog and just wanted to be my friend " http://dachsie.org/ubb/facelick.gif

I am so happy because , Bailey did not try to run away, and he was not aggressive with the kids. Over the weekend I brought Bailey out and had the kids come up and pet him and give him treats. I think this helped alot, he gets better every week around people http://dachsie.org/ubb/bounce.gif

This is great news, indeed!! In response to your previous posts, I was skeptical when Penny's Aunt predicted that something just like this could happen. I am glad to have been wrong!

Way to go, Bailey Boy!!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

P.S. Do ALL dachshund owners eventually end up showing the neighbors what they wear to bed???? I think so! http://dachsie.org/ubb/cool.gif

If we DO end up showing our neighbors what we wear to bed, then my poor neighbors are in for a BIG surprise! http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif It's bad enough I occasionally open the door in just a T-shirt... Heaven forbid what would happen if one of the dogs ran out the door first thing in the morning! http://dachsie.org/ubb/emb.gif (*starts humming Ray Stevens's The Streak*)

Now back to the serious business: YEAH! I'm so glad Bailey is doing well with the kidlets. Kids can be a hoot at times, but other times ya wanna wring them out by their ears... I can't imagine how a dog sees kids! Actually, I take that back -- the young kids that scream and run in circles probably look like lunch. :P

I just saw this about Bailey. Yea!!! I'm glad Bailey seems to be doing ok with the kids. My Josie is terrified of my 20 month old...well...so am I!

Now Bailey has alot of new little friends http://dachsie.org/ubb/bounce.gif

Now that the kids in my area are not afraid of him they all "hang out" in my house now , not sure this is the answer I was looking for http://dachsie.org/ubb/dizzy.gif

I only let them in to play with him for short periods at a time. He loves it, but then I tell the kids he has to nap so he does not get "kid overwhelmed" and of course I never let them near him when I can not have a watchful eye on them.

Bailey still gets little snippy/grumpy when he is tired http://dachsie.org/ubb/sleep.gif

Well, don't we all get a little snippy, grumpy when we're tired.

The Arkansas weiners say, Bailey, cultivate the little rugrats. They are usually more willing to share food than grownups and they most always have something tasty on their faces that needs cleaning by a dachsie tongue. http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
