We knew it would be a full moon tonight as we noticed it almost was last night during our evening hike. So we got all the supplies together and drove out to the longest beach on the island. After walking far enough away from the parking lot so as not to see or hear anyone else, we started a fire just as sunset began. And it was a wonderfully colorful sunset with orange, red and purple colored clouds splashed across the sky after the sun went down. The last bit of color was a brilliant red glow low on the horizon behind Vancouver island in Canada. Across from where we sat on the beach was the sharply defined outline of the entire Olympic peninsula with it's lengthy jagged mountain range.
After we finished our yummy sausage feast (Gaudi's favorite part by far) we watched how the moon rose over Lopez island and through the cloudbank that had been hiding it. Finally the moon showed its face and it was huge, white and luminous. The moon rays shined across the water and sparkled like a dancer. The only sounds were those of the surf on the shore, crickets in the meadows and sea birds. The human's sure enjoyed it and the dachsies liked the food part (and some beach exploring). The photo below shows Sahkti at a beach.
