Dukey's Mom

Hi, crazy woman here. I've been posting all this serious stuff, and we could use some humor...so, what better place to find that than the House of Many Lowriders.
My husband said we should be a made for tv movie.
I'll tell you about our morning. All 6 wake up( one is a foster, Rudy) We have to carry two out, the rest on their own. David starts playing with Sammy who tinkled all over his robe, Dukey doesn't want to go out and Dottie is bringing in a rock from outside....meanwhile, we all go back upstairs, Dottie and Roger are fighting over a chew toy( we only have like a thousand of them!) Sammy has gone in my den and taken a basket back with him, and Maggie is barking at Dottie who is still fighting with Roger over the toy.
Ah, it gets better. Dottie the thief gets the boxers and stashes them, and Sammy has now found a catalog that must have fallen under the bed. Obviously, nothing in there he wanted as he was shredding it.
Then the " neighbor come to kill us all" was leaving for work, and now there are 6 dogs barking to protect us( like they could!)
So, the honey and I just sat on the bed and admitted defeat.
I thought this would be entertaining to share in my misery http://dachsie.org/ubb/smile.gif
Does anyone else have "morning" stories? There has to be some of you that have mornings like me...please God!

Hey Andrea,
Did the rest of your day get any easier? http://dachsie.org/ubb/eek.gif
Yesterday, I had a doozie of a morning too, (although it's mild compared to yours!) 5:30 alarm goes off, wake up 2 teens so they'll be ready for the school bus. Let pups out of crates so I can take them outside. On the way to the door, Maggie chases cat around house a few times. Catch Maggie and start again for the yard. Get leash on Maggie, head out through shed and notice very large shaggy moose in the yard. Drag 2 barking dogs back inside. Maggie chases cat around house a few times. Put dogs in pen in kitchen (because the foolish moose is feasting on our mulch pile as if he's never going to leave), and take quick shower. Come out of the bathroom with hair dripping to find moose is finally gone. Get leash on Maggie again, take dogs out, come back in and Maggie chases cat around house a few times. Drink cup of tea hubby fixed for me as I proofread son's biology paper (I don't really have time, but I promised, and he was still typing when I went to bed last night.) Did I mention the 2 pups fighting for the prime spot on my lap as I read? Finally put both dogs on floor and blow dry hair. Maggie chases a cat around the house a few times. I pull on my clothes, shut off TV and lights family left on, put dogs in their pen with stuffed Kongs and food cube, turn radio on to keep them company, and head out the door. I coax 1 cat to head out into the beautiful sunshine, but the other prefers to stay inside and taunt Maggie all day - probably a 'payback' for the morning's chasing.
Drive 20 minutes to town - behind a school bus that stops every 1/2 mile but won't pull over to let traffic pass - and head into kindergarten classroom. Meet with parent of prospective student (she's deciding whether to send precious first born to private school or throw her to us lions in the public school.) She leaves as the mornig bell rings. As she heads down the hall she gushes, "You must have so much patience to be a kindergarten teacher." As I watch 17 five and six year olds file quietly into the classroom, I notice none are barking, chasing cats or fighting to sit on my lap. Hmmmmm....

Good grief! http://dachsie.org/ubb/eek.gif Sounds as if both of you ladies could use a spa weekend!! Thanks for the laughs, and just remember: We ae laughing WITH you, not AT you! http://dachsie.org/ubb/lol.gif
Heidi, I have to admit that the part of your story that cracked me up the most was the way you just casually threw in the fact that you had a moose in your backyard this morning! For everyone except you and Wotansmutti, I think that event alone would be enough excitement for one day!
Andrea, I don't know how you do it! http://dachsie.org/ubb/dizzy.gif Even on the days when I have Arnold here, it's not even close to your chaos level! And poor hubby, with his damp robe...

Reading those post I came to the conclusion: Have less than 6 weenies,or no kids! Poor Poor weiner mommies have it hard.
My mornings are simple- Wotan usually stays hidden under his couch blankie until I come down and then coax him outside. He does his "thing" and then rushes inside to glare into his dish to see if any good tidbits have made their way there while he was away.
This morning I gave him a piece of cheese-usually his finest treat, and he spit it on the floor! Frank admitted giving him some frenchtoast and egg earlier. Wotan only had eyes for my bologna (that was on the bread) I was making for lunch. What a monster I have created. Sonja Von Wotanstein!

Oh Andrea- you know you would'nt have it any other way. BTW Silly loves to use the spa. He will popped himself on the side until we finally give in and bring him in. Of course I have to let the temp drop before and Yes, Penny's Aunt, we have a locked cover on it so he does not take it upon himself to spa while we are out! Your all invited use ours but be prepared to hold Silly while you relax. It's required!

I know, I know, I'm a glutten for punishment! I spent Saturday afternoon with hubby, purchasing a dog house for the gang, thinking they would go in there in warmer weather.
We found one( was going to get one with a porch...a little too pricey!) Anyway, know I have to go to the harware store to have paint mixed to match the house. My house is a salmon coloe, very pale pink.
Ok, I'm good to go, have doghouse, paint and brushes...and 6 dogs running around ( Rudy the foster was there too)So, I plunge forward and was doing a great job until the honey says" Um honey, have you looked at Sammy and Dottie?" I said " Ya, they are right here...Yup they were right there covered in salmon and white paint( white was for the trim, of course) Sammy is now a B/T and salmon Dachsie and Dottie is a silver B/T and salmon Dapple. It's acyrlic paint! I can't get it off them!
Well, at least they are spring colors!
BTW, the doghouse looks awesome, I put a plaque up that says" Dukey's Place" hehehehe
I really do need a life!

Ooooohhh, Andrea! You could probably win yourself a couple of ribbons, since you now have the extremely rare salmon-dapple dachshund!!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/lol.gif
Hey, if that's acrylic paint, it should come off with a good sudsing in plain old soap and water. Are you sure it isn't oil-based paint? That would require a turp dip!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/sick.gif
You have GOT to find a way to post a photo of this doghouse of yours!

Your right, I think it is oil based. I tried washing it off with soap and water, no good.
Sammy has it on his tail and back and Dottie the terrible has it on her side. I was trying to be so careful too!
Oh well, in a couple of years it should wear off!
The doghouse looks adorable! I took a picture with the digital camara, there must be a way to get it on here!
Of course my neighbor commented about our "pink" doghouse, I corrected him, it's salmon...ok, it's pink!
Ssshhhh...don't tell Dukey, Roger or Sammy http://dachsie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Forget the photos of the doghouse -- I want to see the DOGS!
It's probably almost time for them to shed. They should lose the paint then. Otherwise, if you lose them, they should be easy to ID over the phone!

Susan,
Funny you should mention "The Ugly Dacshund"
DRNA sells the book for a fundraiser and I just got mine. I am at the point where poor Rags is in the pound! Gasp! I can barely stand it to see what happens next! LOL
BTW...the paint is wearing off...sigh...I was getting used to it.

Me Again,
I keep trying to work on the kids website, but can't seem to find the time. But, if you go to DRNA's site and click on fundraisers and the magnets you can see Dottie the Terrible when she was about 5 pounds! Scroll down and she is on the left looking down the stairs with HELP splashed on the picture. It was taken last summer when she was still a baby.

Great Idea Andrea!
Now you can color coordinate your dachsies for seasonal events. Around Christmas it could be green and gold glitter, then pastels for Easter. Throughout the whole year our dachsies could look like they were part of a Martha Stewart special edition!
Love those stories of " I was a dachshund hostage". Keep 'em coming. Heheheheh.

Wotan knows what to do with mouses! Have fun Andrea! Maybe you can adopt Pluto while you're there. Hubby wouldn't mind a six foot dog in the living room....
