I was beginning to think our cooler weather was leading to a new level of companionship between Frank (10 months, standard ~14.5 pounds, in my home for 4) and Tanner (10 months - 2 years, mini 11.5 pounds, in my home for 1.5 months). The last couple of days I've been in bed more than usual trying to get rid of a cold. Tanner was curled up near my feet as usual and at first I figured Frank was trying to start something again when he squeezed in between me and Tanner but when I checked on him both boys appeared content resting side by side near the foot of the bed. About ten miniature latter I heard a thump and and looked down to see Tanner getting to his feet on the floor and Frank still stretched out but near the edge of the bed. This isn't the first time I have observed Frank moving in next to Tanner cuddling up next to him and then eventually pushing Tanner out of bed. Our normal sleep arrangements has Tanner on one side of me near my ankles and Frank on the other curled up behind my knees. I have to unwind myself from the boys when it's time to get up.

Our dogs don't usually sleep with us, but there have been times on weekend mornings that we'll let them in the bed, hoping we can catch a few zzzzz's. It never works out because Maggie can't be still, and Chester hates her bothering him, and starts snapping at her. Then if we move, he thinks he can do that to us too! That's when they BOTH are out of the bed! And by that time us too. Who can really sleep late with doxies in the house?

Hi Tom, sorry you're not feeling well. I think you better explain to the little guys that we might have a cold winter and you will need them both for any "two dog nights". If you remember your history lessons, in colonial times they had what was known as bundling. Maybe that might work?
Make a fast recovery,

Tom,
Sounds like you may need to invest in "bumper guards" or railings like for a kids bed to keep the little guy safe.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif: What a silly boy that Frank is. And Tanner is no doubt wondering what hit him.

http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/dizzy.gifBoy, do I understand kids in bed. With our 5! it is always interesting. The smooths (3) like it under the covers and the longhairs (2) on top. Pepper (longhair) likes to sleep wrapped around my neck. Laila (smooth) is always the first under the covers! Darby (longhair) is the first one up, at the slightest sliver of daylight. Then he proceeds to wake up everyone else and play time begins. Sometimes my husband and I go a way on a Saturday night- to get some sleep!
Love them all.

Poor Tanner! Dogs are so pure of heart (or maybe just forgetful). I can just see poor little Tanner thinking "Frank loves me! He really loves me!" and then BOOM! he's on the floor again.
So long as I take Annie out for an early-morning potty break, she'll stay in bed til 10 a.m. on weekends. That's because her Dad is there, giving tummy rubs. Sometimes we'll get up and she's still lying on her back between the pillows.
