My husband was out front this weekend playing roller hockey(yes a big 35 year old kid). we live in a town home so we have a court out front our house without traffic to do these things.

I took Bailey out on a leash fro a little walk, and when he made a doo-doo I asked Larry to hold the leash while I went to get a paper towel to pick it up. When I came back out front the is my hubby skating and Bailey the "super Weiner" right behind him. Larry just held the leash and when he went so did Bailey http://dachsie.org/ubb/bounce.gif

Talk about good excersise for Bailey, He already has amazing definition/ muscles in his back legs and lower back, he is my lean, mean, dachsie roller blading machine http://dachsie.org/ubb/facelick.gif

Oh yes, and Ginger does not miss out either, she loves to roller blade also, but not running on her leash, Larry holds her (real tight) and takes her for a nice slow roller ride, she loves it http://dachsie.org/ubb/bounce.gif

It sounds like another good entry possibility in the Doggy Olympics to me!

Hey Linda,

Maybe you could hitch up your TEAM of doxies and have them pull YOU or your hubby when you or he rollerblades. I bet that was a riot to watch!

Wotan killed another woodrat. This one had infested my husband's car. The other morning he was out there, ripping twigs and branches off his Fox car motor. The woodie kept popping up like a jack in the rodent- Frank would take a swat, Sadie ( the rottie) would lunge, the rat would dance and this went on for about 5 tries. I was laughing hard.

Frank finally had to give up and drive off to work with a woodrat in his car...

When he got home that night, Frank went back to the ol' rat hunt. Yep, and there it was on then under the car engine! Grrrrr! Water hose didn't do it. Sadie Mae couldn't get it!
Wotan finally ran under the car and !!ZING!!
when F. looked up next Wo was shaking a dead woodie by the neck. What a hunter! He get's live squeakies http://dachsie.org/ubb/dizzy.gif

I'm glad I don't have to mount any of his trophies up on a wall.

Wotan, Mickey and Oscar are VERY proud of you...and Oscar is a big hunter man himself. They want to know if they can join you for a snack. http://dachsie.org/ubb/facelick.gif But I, thinking of you shaking a dead woodrat by the neck, and being a mommy, have only one thing to say....EEEEWWWW!!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/blah.gif

I just read Wotan's hunt to Penny, & she thought it sounded great, & could Wo ship a few live woodrats to her, please? All she has to do here is chase cats, & that's getting boring.

The Arkansas weiners say, Wotan, you go boy! http://dachsie.org/ubb/bounce.gif Its a dachsies job to keep the vermin out of house and car.

Have you ever taken Wotan to an earthdog test? He'd be a natural. http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey...watch it on the roller hockey....my hubby and I also play roller hockey. We took Henry a few times when we were back in KS and he loved it. He would run all over the hockey rink chasing after the ball (I like the hockey balls better than the roller hockey pucks). The poor little guy would run the entire game (we would have to stop playing for him to rest). What a workout he would get! Henry the Hockey Master!

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was going to be about dachsies ON Rollerblades! http://dachsie.org/ubb/dizzy.gif Now, THAT would be something to see!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/lol.gif

Sonja, Peaches read about Wotan and his latest rat caper and she was SOOOooo jealous! The cities are supposed to be full of rats, but Peaches has never found one, and she is the mistress of the hunt!

Mostly I was amazed that Frank drove the car and the rattie was still in there! How'd that happen???

Mandy, my hubby likes the hockey balls better then pucks too http://dachsie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Speaking of hockey.. GO FLYERS http://dachsie.org/ubb/bounce.gif I live in NJ, but right outside of Philly so we are Phila team fans.

If the NJ Devils win I may have to switch teams or move to North Jersey http://dachsie.org/ubb/oogle.gif

I wondered how the rat stayed in the car when it was running, too. Was he inside? Did he use the seatbelt?

That's the part that amazes me too - that Frank drove away knowing there was a rat in the car with him.

Once we found a mouse living in the glove compartment of my car - maybe that's where the rat resided.

Dachsies are the best mousers (ratters?) aren't they?

I'd love to see a photo of the rollerblading dachsies!

Iremember my dad hadn't driven his mustang in a while and when he started it up, a bunch of twigs and paper blew outta the airconditioning. He had a whole nestfull of baby mice. My sister was about 13 at the time, tried to save them by dropper feeding them. As I recall, they all died shortly there after.

Ahhhh! My favorite, rat stories...

Woodrats or packrats are about the size of a small guinea pigs. They look like big gerbils and are somewhat cute- in a rodent way.
They are very distructive, espc. under your car hood. In my car they've eaten through wiring and my windshieldwiper fluid hoses. Last year I had to leave my hood open every night so I wouldn't get re-nested continually. The rats just run under the car and hide out in the plastic bumpers or wheel wells. I had one living in my car for a while and would amaze people by flipping open my hood and show them a ratty looking up at them!

Wotan has been great to have. He is so fast on the draw that it's impossible to see the kill. And he can get under the car /ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif

I had to have my car doors adjusted once and took the rig down to the mechanic. A woodrat jumped "ship" so to speak into a police cruiser that was there waiting for something. The woodrat ate up alot of cruiser's insulation...

Have rat will travel.
