Reuben loves to fight with my broom and vacuum cleaner. Today was a rainy day in VA. This morning when my daughter and I saw how the weather was, we looked at each other and said, "Reuben is gonna pee in the house today." Anyway, he is very lazy & sleepy when we have rainy weather. Reuben was in a dead sleep under the covers in my bed all by himself. I was cleaning my bathroom and started to sweep with the broom. Up he came immediately ready for a good fight with the broom monster. Well, as always we (the broom monster & myself) played the little fight game with Reuben. When we were done fighting, I leaned the broom against the door and walked back to the bathroom. I came back out and Reuben was sitting by the broom. I picked it up to put it away and it was wet. Yep, pee wet!! Reuben had gotten the last laugh on the broom monster today!

How funny!! That reminded me of when Twix was just a tiny thing and she went nuts over my broom. So funny to watch them attack a broom and act like it is really gonna get them back!

Sounds like we may have new Dachshund World Domination (DWD for short) agent recruits in your babies. Check under the DWD section of the board if you would like to join in and play. It's a great way to share stories and such from a dachsie (and other dog) point of view. If you'd like--you can go back and start with Dolly's Mission Impossible and move ahead from there . . . hope to see ya in DWD!

mary (actually it's a fun "role-playing" game. Kinda puts dachsie things in perspective and it's addictive, yet non-fattening! )

That's funny. I discovered yesterday that my three month old Sadie has a thing for the mop! She would carefully try to pounce it as I mopped, and jump backwards when she thought it was out to get her. She didn't like it too much when the big roaring vacuum moster started to "chase" her back!

Reuben is hilarious to watch. When I get the vacuum out he actually bites the rubber guard on the front. Then if I cut off the vacuum to do something else. He will lay beside it and sometimes sleep until the vacuum is ready to play again. Silly, silly Reu!!

I'm at work and when my co-workers heard me laughing, they had to come over and read what was soooooo funny.
You are very lucky to have a puppy who likes the broom. All three of mine absolutely hate it. They all act like its a giant 'swatter'.
Of course, none have ever been swatted with a broom.

I am laughing so hard over this thread. I've had a hard day, so this is wonderful! When we brought Dolly home at age 1 1/2 years, she was real leery of noises. She had spent most of her first 1 1/2 yrs outside all the time. She had a real "talk" with the microwave when Mark popped some popcorn. She's still afraid of the "floor dragon". Sissy Maddie stands right up to the Dragon. Doller hates water but will lay on my robe while I'm in the shower. She's always there to tongue dry my legs. Miss Madders is a toe specialist. You guys really make me smile. And speaking of SMILE, how do I activate the smileys at the side of the board? I know how to do the other ones like :blah blah: but don't know the trick to the pictured ones.

Hi gang,

I cleaned out the fireplace the other day and got the Dust Buster out of the garage to tidy up some ashes theat fell to brick in front . . . Now it's been over a year since the 3 furkids have seen this hand-held dragon so there we were . . . the 4 of us in front of the fireplace. A big Catahoula & 2 Mini WH's try to save their hoodad from this little dragon trying to devour his hand. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/eek.gif Their reactions were far more exagerated than with the floor dragon . . . it was just too funny. They would charge, barking and when almost touching it . . . back away quickly, barking. Top Spin bayed at it as he would if on a hunt. They looked very proud when I put it away as though they had won the battle for hoodad. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

I guess 00K9 will have to report this in her next coded communication to the DWD. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/eek3.gif

Sandi,

To activate the smileys on the side---just pick one and click on it. It will go in the text where your cursor is. If you don't like it just delete it.

They are cute, arent't they?

Floor monster?! Wow, you guys have names for everything. I'm "new" at this dachshund-thing from an adult's point of view. We had one as a kid, but it's not really the same thing. Anyway, we adopted Betty (aka Queen Elizabeth) in September. She never fails to bring a smile or all out belly-rocking laughter to our household daily. She's not afraid of the "floor monster" at all -- but the "Swiffer"-- now that's another story! can you imagine?! Sweet little nut-bag!
