Just a tale about my Mitzi. This weekend was a terrible first my mother had to go to the ER on Friday night (she is fine got out on Sunday) then my baby Mitzi got sick on Saturday and I had to rush her to the vet. She has a virus plus a parasite plus the vet thought she was depressed because she was having digestive problems (talk about stinky poop!!! Yuck!). She had to have two very painful shots and now is on medicine. She slept all day Saturday and started to feel better late that evening. On Sunday she was her very perky self. I had to take her with me to my brother's house and she got along fine. In fact she had a great time. I kept taking her outside but she would never go. Then later that evening we were outside for about an hour. I was getting ready to go home with her gathering her toys etc. When she started sniffing, I know that sniff so I called her to come to me, she ran, I ran after but couldn't catch her then right in front of my eyes she squatted. I could have screamed bloody murder. But I told her no put her on her paper while she was still peeing. Then took her outside. I knew it; I was talking to my sister-in-law saying I bet she goes in the house. And sure enough she waited and did she could or maybe she wouldn't go outside just had to wait to get on that nice soft cream carpet. It is very amsuing now but when I was running after her and she thought it was all a big game it wasn't at all.

What a terrible weekend. Glad your Mom is okay. As for Mitzi, hate to tell you, but if you owned her for years and she didn't do something like that...she wouldn't be a Dachshund.
We can never outguess them! Bless their little hearts. Regardless, of whether it is a physical problem or ? it is never funny when it happens. But then in retrospect, when they aren't around, we giggle. It is absolutely necessary to have a good sense of humor if you love dachsies.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif
Sometimes the best thing you can do with a mistake is to ignore it. Dog behaviorists tell us that making a fuss sometimes restricts them from going, even outside, when you are around. Hard to do, I know, but I think it is the correct approach. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/book.gif
Best to you, Mitzi and your Mom,
Greta, Baylea and Roxane
