Yup, me again. You know what I miss. I was thinking of this this morning as I rolled Dukey from under the covers. That smell, that beautiful Frito feet smell! We need some good Frito stories here/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Funny you should mention Frito Feet... just last night I had a Frito encounter of a different sort.
Sometimes I let Rooby snooze under the covers with me while I do crossword puzzles (we can't let her sleep on the bed all night because it's really high off the floor and she likes to fly off of it to chase the Cats). So, last night after I put her to bed in her crate, I went back to bed and guess what? FRITO PILLOW!! She had put her little head on my pillow and well, you know the rest... anytime a hotdog gets warm and cozy, it's only a matter of minutes before Frito takes its hold.

OK, I've got to ask.....
I've been reading everyone's little references to Frito feet for a while now and I'm just curious. Is this an inside joke I've missed, or do your pets' feet really smell like my favorite salty snack!
I'm gonna feel real silly rushing home from work today to take of whiff of my girls' feetsies to see if I can figure it out!

Yes, we've found that their feeties smell like Frito chips...and their arm pits too! /ubb/smilies/smile.gif
It seems like the smell really develops strongly when they are cuddled and warm, like under a blanket. If you pick up the blanket and take a whiff...phew..F R I T O! /ubb/smilies/eek3.gif Go ahead, try it and let us know if you agree!

Ok. I know I probably dwell on the loss of my Punkin, but I'm gonna talk about her anyway. /ubb/smilies/smile.gif I really miss that Frito smell snuggled next to me at night. When I had my miscarriage, it was that Frito smell that really comforted me. When I had a migraine, I called for my little Punkin and slept better with her frito feet wedged into my back. Josie (the dog disguised as a dachsie) does not have that frito smell...she does have putrid breath /ubb/smilies/eek.gif though...God bless her. I have to say, today is 5 months since Punkin died /ubb/smilies/angel.gif, and I'd give anything to smell her frito scent on my pillow and covers. /ubb/smilies/kfrown.gif
Sorry if I depressed anyone. You know I love you all and your little frito smelling dachsies. /ubb/smilies/love.gif

Oh, Tanya--you can talk about Punkin whenever you want. /ubb/smilies/kfrown.gif Everyone here knows how you feel...
Yes, indeed, Boonech--their paws DO smell like Fritos! Different dogs seem to have different degrees of Frito-dum: Arnold is so strong in the Frito department that he doesn't even have to be covered up, just has to be asleep in his snuggler for a while. Farfel has moderate Frito feet. Peaches has no Frito feet whatsoever.
It IS amazing how exactly like the corn chips that smell is!! /ubb/smilies/lol.gif

Hey Mickamack! I have been away for way too long! I actually had a day off from work today and thought I'd check in and see how things are. Good to see some familiar names!
I can see I am WAY behind on the Owen diet! I'll never get caught up... /ubb/smilies/frown.gif
Boonech - you must sniff your weiner's little feeties and let us know... most, but not all have the frito scent. Rooby has it in her feet, neck, and chest (I know, I'm blessed).

I just have to get in on this one !
My hubby and I were just talking about frito smell this morning. It seem that Bailey has a much stronger FRITO smell then my little Ginger/ubb/smilies/eek3.gif
This morning the Frito smel was stronger then normal, when Bailey came up from under the covers, both his pads and that under arm spot.
Lets face it dachsie lover's, depending on the dachsie aand the particular morning, sometimes we have the mini-frito smell, and other times we get that BIG CHIP DIP FRITO size smell/ubb/smilies/facelick.gif

One of our nicknames for Willi is "Fritofeeties". I can't believe that I am confessing to this silliness /ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif
I have "puppy fever" really bad now and I hope to add another set of "Fritofeeties" soon. /ubb/smilies/ksmile.gif

I swear, the word FRITO or FRITOS or a variation of such gets mentioned at my house AT LEAST once a day. Dolly is Queen Frito around here. Maddie SOMETIMES smells fritoey, but Mark says she smells more like mackeral at times......hmmmmm. Why, I just WASHED the futon swiss cheese (lots of "airholes") blankie and the very next day, it was as fritoey as ever. Dolly will lay UNDER the blankie even on the hottest of days while little 8 lb Madison is more of a blankie topper. We ADORE the frito smell. Wonder if you can bottle it.
PS......ROOBYROCKS, Glad you're back with us! /ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif

That frito smell is a very comforting one. Maybe dachsies invented it to get under our covers with us- and us to love them more for that yummy smell!

Don't feel silly Kris about the Frito-feeties. We used to call Punkin the Frito Bandito! She would get so excited when we would call her that she would start her victory laps! Running round and round with the smell of Fritos in the wind!

I am sitting at my desk LAUGHING OUT LOUD!!! I have missed these stories. It took me months after all of us figured out what the smell was to get my honey to smell Dukey's feet. Finally I just shoved Dukey's feet at the honey's nose! He agreed with what we came up with.
Dukey is the big chip frito, Dottie is a medium chip, Roger, nothing, Maggie doesn't stay still long enough to figure out and Sammy is a close second to Dukey.
As I am checking for spelling errors, I'm thinking how sad, that I can tell you what all my guys feet smell like!
Anyone have any dip?

Ya know, when I first heard the Frito Feet thing from you guys, I went directly to Isobel and sniffed her feet. She then rolled over and I sniffed her all over (almost). I told other people (Dachsie and non) about this really cool wiener dog thing. The looks they gave me were priceless . . . if I were less of a person my feelings would've been hurt and I would've been afraid of getting restraints slapped on me.
But it's so true! I even got my dad (who's 81) to sniff her feet at Christmas time /ubb/smilies/lol.gif and she loved it.
One thing tho--I noticed that her head smells like a hampster. Kinda rodent/cedar shavings. And she smells like this all the time. Should I be worried? /ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif:

Tanya, ALWAYS talk about your baby...we understand.
I lost my Tigger ( big orange cat) a year ago in April. I had had him since I was 19, and he passed at 17! My Dukey would try to be his friend, and Tiggs wanted no part of it.
Mary, as far as the rodent smell, you may be right...but Shhhh, don't tell our little weiners, they may be insulted. Although, they are simalar though...OMG, I will need further investigation.
I am in withdrawals for Wotan stories. C'mon, Sonya, he must have been up to something lately! Beside being Frito like! I need to know!
Going to take a nap with the kids now...it's tough being old ya know!

Mary, when I first joined this board, the one thing that caught my eye was when someone said: "This is the only place where I can talk about my dachsies & people don't roll their eyes."
Too true.

Ask Amy for help posting your picture...she knows everything! /ubb/smilies/smile.gif
Thanks Andrea. I get comments from my husband all the time when I talk about Punkin so now I'm cautious about mentioning her. I don't think he realizes that it actually makes me feel better to talk about her. I know you guys understand! Big hugs to all of you! /ubb/smilies/lol.gif

Hey Wotansmutti - you're not alone on this one. I can't seem to figure out the photo thing either. /ubb/smilies/frown.gif Shelley posted a pic of Penny and Maggie (just a week or so after Maggie moved to Maine) on her site and sent me explicit directions on how to post it. I've not tried before, but I will now. (This way I won't feel quite so bad if it doesn't work - I'll know I'm in good company!)

That photo looks incomplete: they really need a few books between them to look more natural!
But it's a fine shot anyway.

I need dirctions too. I keep trying to find the time to make a website of my kids, and to figure out how to post pics.
Great photo of the bookends...loved that!
On a totally different subject, got two female owner turn ins yesterday. On is a chocolate dapple with green eyes, really beautiful, have never seen one before. I'll tell you the story of this one on another post.
I will investigate the Frito smell from the fosters. Hmmmm...I wonder if it will smell like chocolate covered Fritos! Now there is something we can market!

/ubb/smilies/uh-oh.gif Sorry folks - I only know how to post PENNY & MAGGIE'S photos - Shelley put photos of them on her website and then sent me an email telling me EXACTLY what to type to get THEIR photos to show up. I'm not smart enough to be of any help to you - sorry.
I do know that the photos have to be on a web page somewhere and if they are you type and then the address of the photo followed by [IMG] again, but I guess we have to beg Amy or Krista for more explicit directions. Sorry! [img]/ubb/smilies/blushie.gif

Cute picture. Your babies are so pretty.
Whopper has Frito feet but the rest of him has that oniony puppy smell. Chip and dip? /ubb/smilies/lol.gif Button has a little Frito, Wheeler has none and Pippin smells like parmesan cheese! Haven't sniffed Buddy or Rita's feet. Katy says Catahoulas don't let people sniff their feet. Its just too weird. /ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif
