it is....the bath tub. i was bathing the wieners tonight and there nails were pretty long. they will not ever let me clip them. i've tried many times with resulting screaming, crying, whining, squealing-you all have dachsies you know what i mean. i normally have to have the vet do them or tske them to petsmart. so weenie was all wet and soapy and i thought to myself...hmm maybe he will let me trim his nails here in the bathtub? he likes baths and the tub(he knows mommy always sings to him and lets him kiss her face as much as he wants when he's in the tub) so i get the nail clippers and 1-2-3-4 the first foot was done before we knew it. and the other feet were just as easy. he is such a good boy!!! he's usually the worse offender when it comes to crying and squealing. he got a nice piggie roll to chew on. then it was crickets turn. she was not so easy. she jumped out of the tub while she was very slipperry with shampoo. thats ok though because her medicated shampoo needs to stay on for 10 minutes anyway so a game of chase was a fun way to pass the time while we waited. after she was dry she also got a nice piggie roll. so my sweeties are smelling fresh and clean with pretty pawdiures and i think they might be sleeping in the big bed tonoght! :appl: :cheer:
Congrats in discovering a new way to trim nails. :appl: :appl:
I'm glad it worked out well for you and you have happy puppers. :)

So glad to hear that you did it. It helps so much to do it when the nails are softer from being wet. It is so nice to hear of success it gives others hope! :coolcool:
Did you get some kisses too! :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2:
Hey this is my 2,222 nd post!

Mr. Butters just fainted. His worst nightmare would be a bath and nail trim at the same time! He *hates* baths and he really hates nail trims. Glad your doggies are more cooperative!

That is a great tip! But I've been giggling since I read your post because I'm envisioning myself trying to catch one of my dogs while they are wet and soapy! :D

Mine agree with Mr. Butters! Nail trimming and a bath at the same time! :faint:

Harley is with Mr. Butters on that one! :faint:
He absolutely hates bath (which he is due tomorrow for one!) but will tolerate nail trimming if I do it quickly.

Dexter would probably run away if he had a bath and nail clipping on the same day. He as well as Dudley hates both.

No piggy roll would make up for the torture of having a bath and a nail trim at the same time! Oliver says they should get a red badge of honor or something.

Let's see. Mine get grooming split through out the week. Sunday would be a bath day, then Monday feet trim, Wednesday usually the nail trim. Nope, all at once is too much!!

Great idea and glad it worked for you. I'm not sure if Ally would go for it though. She doesn't seem to "enjoy" the tub very much. She tolerates it at best. I did find a way to trim her nails yesterday though...I had my daughter ready with the treats in hand giving her little pieces while I trimmed. It made it much easier.

I think I might have to try that. I'm trying to save some money to pay the Orthodontist $8,000 just for my son's braces!!! So maybe instead of taking Charlie to the groomers for his bath/trim I can do more at home.
