Hey- this is NDR, but I thought it was cool. My uncle had me chaperone a boy scout overnight stay on the USS Little Rock at the Buffalo Naval Park (I chaperoned the boy scouts' sisters) They have three battleships (well, one is a submarine). We stayed on the biggest one. It was like being in the military. I did not like it, but it was cool now that it's over- it gave me funny stories and memories. They fed us in a line, dropping the food on our plates, military style. Lights out was at 10:30 and they meant it- the lights were turned off with a main switch and you had to be in bed. Of course, we slept 30 to a room on the smallest, most uncomfortable beds you could imagine. After a night of tossing and turning (and feeling everyone around me tossing and turning, as the beds were chained together) they woke us at 6:30 am with taps and made us take our stuff out to our cars at that time, even though we didn't have to leave until 11! Here's some of my best shots, though. They have day tours, if you're ever in the Buffalo area, it might be something to check out, especially if you have sons.

Worst beds ever:

This isn't the boat I stayed on- it's the Sullivans, which they claim is haunted. An interesting point- most of my digital images aboard that ship are blurry, and in my many, many images taken daily, I never get blurry shots.

The ship I stayed on. I like that you can see a little of the Buffalo waterfront around this shot. See, no snow. We don't just have snow and a bad football team here, see.

Cool story Tracy, but those beds are CREEPY!!! I toured the battleship in Wilmington, N.C., once when I was little and I remember feeling really claustrophobic. I could never spend the night on one!

Yes...you do have a bad football team ::ducking and running:: Seriously however, what a great experience you had! Uncomfortable or not, those really are nights you will remember!

And yes, I've done the bus trip down to watch football in Buffalo...I'm just a Dolphins fan..so that tells you what a glutton for punishment I am!!!

Wow that looks cool but I could never do it. Ever since I toured a WWI or WWII submarine that docked at the Inner harbor in Balitmore, I saw how small those spaces are. I guess one night would be cool though!

Though being the claustraphobic individual that I am I would have run screaming long before dawn. Sounds like a neat adventure for the kids. Being from Cincinnati and knowing firsthand what bad football is all about I can tell you that having a terminally bad football team year after year no matter what night they may be playing on national tv teaches one great :faint: humility. ;)

Cool weekend. Even though you didn't get much sleep, it was an interesting experience. Thanks for sharing it and the pics.
